Genoa - excursions

Hello! 🙂

Any recommendations for excursions or providers of excursions from Genoa? Looking for say an 8-seater minivan tour. Last time we were over there, we were let down by a company. We wanted to spend a day in Portofino and Santa Margherita but basically got 10 minutes in each due to a relief driver that didn't know the plan and couldn't really speak English. So probably keen to go back there with a better company unless there's other recommendations of places of interest. TIA.

Have your ruled out Genoa itself?

The city is historic and authentic.

For example Genoa has a past with quite rich nobility and several of the palaces can be visited (other are lived in 😉 )

If you are mobil you can start your walking tour right a the port.

Thank you. Last time we had about 6 hours exploring Genoa itself. It is an option instead of going to Portofino.

Why bother with a tour?

There are both train and public buses linking Genoa and Santa Margherita, travel time a little under an hour.  As you will know, from SM last time around, you have the option (or not) of taking the pretty ferry ride the short distance to Portofino.  SM really merits a longer time than you had first time around.  We really liked the town and enjoyed visiting some of the sights it has to offer and we also took a waterside walk.  With a travel time of just under an hour, you could easily return and spend as much or as little time there as you like.  Any excess time left over could be spent visiting anything you missed out on first time in Genoa, or revisiting a sught you really enjoyed.
