Queues

 Hi everyone, in your experience, how bad are the queues on board, on embarking and disembarking? Is it just something to expect as part of a cruise? Do you have any recommendations on how to avoid the worst of them? We're cruise novices, leaving on the Sky next weekend. Your comments would be very welcome.

Hi Ans, my recommendation would be that almost as soon as you board if you know what tours you'll do go straight to the Tour Desk (opposite the Pursers desk) and book them. Embarking looks like a huge cue but it moves relatively quickly. You're so pumped and excited, you talk to anyone and you don't seem to care how long the quere is:p .

If you're on an organised tour you get off rather quickly. If not it could a bit longer!:( The only time it took longer was when the ship was anchored off an island, then you get a ticket with a number on it. Didn't seem to take that long the last time we were on the Sky. To avoid the disembarking cue have breakky early and then go get your ticket from the Show Lounge (that's where you used to collect them anyway) The staff will announce when and where to get your tickets anyhow.

Hope this helps a little.

Certainly helps, thanks Kerri! Will take your advice! As you say, it's fun to stand and chat to others and there should be lots to talk about. Definitely not as boring as a queue in the post office or supermarket  ..
