BruCu Posted June 23, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 23, 2022 Hello all, Can I have any comments regarding the new Byron Bay Club. Is it worth it ? Is it undercover ? Thanks
BruCu Posted October 17, 2022 Author #2 Share Posted October 17, 2022 Might as well answer my own. Yes. Undercover. Worth it ? For some, yes. For us, no. A nice area with own pool and bar and plenty of seating. No food available though. Very active people so we primarily walked decks and stairs and moved about. Used the pool twice and a few times, the seating. Decide for yourself.
LuckiePuris Posted October 20, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 20, 2022 Can you purchase a pass for Byron Bay if you're not in an eligible cabin type? Thanks
Brisbanelionsfan Posted December 3, 2022 #4 Share Posted December 3, 2022 No you can’t purchase a pass to Byron Bay if not in a BB cabin.
Rare ceeceeDee Posted February 8, 2023 #5 Share Posted February 8, 2023 I'm a bit surprised at the comment that food is not available at the Byron Beach Club. My understanding is that you can order food (which will be delivered to your lounger) but it is not free.
Rare ceeceeDee Posted July 5, 2023 #6 Share Posted July 5, 2023 (edited) Just back from our cruise on Encounter. You can definitely order food at the Byron Beach Club (Luke's Burgers or Gradi Pronto) and it is delivered to your seat/lounger. The burgers are amazing btw and well worth paying $12. Other 'perks' with the Byron rooms (we had a Byron mini suite M1 category) include a fruit basket replenished daily, nightly canapes (from day 2 onwards) and breakfast at Angelos (exclusive to Byron rooms). And let's not forget the in room coffee maker! P&O are now offering Byron benefits to MA class mini suites for an extra tariff of $160 (came into effect 1 July). Not sure if that is just to gain access to the Byron Beach Club or if you get the whole deal. Given the difference in room price between M1 and MA I'm assuming it is just access to the Byron Beach Club facilities, but I could be wrong. Rare charliedalrymple Posted August 27, 2023 #7 Share Posted August 27, 2023 We will have a suite with Byron Beach Club access on a cruise next year, and I was curious whether it's worth it. How large is the area, and how crowded does it get? Is the service a bit better there than in larger public areas? Are children allowed--and if so, how many of them tend to be there at any given time? Thanks for any insights you can offer!
Rare ceeceeDee Posted August 27, 2023 #8 Share Posted August 27, 2023 (edited) In our opinion, the Byron Beach Club is definitely worth it. In fact we have booked a Byron Mini Suite again for our next cruise. We cruised on Pacific Encounter. The area is on Deck 16 at the very front of the ship (amazing views) and is quite large and on two levels. Top level houses the bar, an under cover area (shade sails), semi glassed in which gives some protection from the wind, with lots of loungers, tables and chairs and cabanas. Most of the loungers (day beds) face outwards so you can lie back and enjoy the view. There are games like chess, giant jenga, etc. There are also loungers in an open area. The pool and spas are on the lower level On our last cruise the Club was never crowded and a really great place to relax and read a book The service is good, no fighting your way to the bar, drinks are delivered to wherever you are sitting and you can order food (for a charge) from Luke's Burgers or Pronto and it will be delivered to you Children staying in eligible suites are allowed in the Club area. Having said that, we only saw one family with small children in the Club once on our 7 day cruise. This may be different in school holidays, we'll find out on our next cruise, but have found in the past that most children tend to spend their time at the various kids' clubs Other perks we loved: Breakfast at Angelo's (restricted to Byron Beach Club passengers only and there is no upcharge for eggs benny. We had the same waiter every morning who quickly knew our preferences and the service was superb), canapes and a fruit basket delivered to the room every night from day two, priority embarkation and disembarkation and priority tenders, a glass of wine in the room on arrival, two complimentary large bottles of water and a coffee maker in the room (top quality coffee pods topped up daily), use of Byron Beach Club robes to wear during the cruise (you can't take them home) and P&O branded flip flops to take home We hadn't pre-booked our dining preferences prior to boarding and within 10 minutes of accessing our room a member of the maitre 'd staff was calling us on the room phone to assist with our dining bookings for the cruise That was our experience with a Byron room and we can't wait to do it again Edited August 27, 2023 by ceeceeDee
