Quiet, laid back beach?

Ilet Pinel totally fits your bill. Drive your rental car about 10 minutes north from Orient Beach and park at the safe, secure, convenient sandy dirt lot in Cul de Sac. Just follow signs for Cul de Sac/ferry to Ilet Pinel.

$6 and a 10 minute ferry crossing brings you to Pinel. Very lovely white sand beach with umbrellas/chaise longues for rent ($9, not the best value--just bring your own towels and thow them on beach unless you don't mind wasting money or have an inordinate attraction to shade and/or having your bum off the sand), small beach bar/restaurant, larger restaurant, couple cute boutiques, grassy trails across the islet with opportunities to explore the breadth of this 1 x 2 mile island.

It was a bit crowded when we were there (we took the 11a.m.-ish ferry) but there were still spots on the beaches where you could have some relative privacy.

Definitely worth the trip.
