Rare Analog187 Posted August 24, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2022 I would like to go to the Galapagos on the Flora in November but I can't tell if it would be better to wait until January. I can do either but would prefer November. Google gives me inconsistent results so I'd like to see if anyone has been there in November. It seems like there is less rainfall and heat in November but the main downside I see is that the water isn't as clear for snorkeling. Thanks in advance. Rothko1 Posted August 25, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2022 You're basically near the equator, so you aren't getting major seasons. Instead, a key issue is the Humboldt Current. This brings in cold water to the Galapagos, which brings in krill and nutrients, etc, which in turn attracts the fish and birds. The Current runs from June to November, so I would go in November. It will be colder for snorkeling, but you'll see more activity.
Buckeye 6 Posted October 17, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 17, 2022 We were there in November many years ago. The water was cold but used wet suit. The water was very clear at all the locations
