Excursions in Hilo

We will be in Hilo on Oct.31 & our Ruby Princess ship will be docked from 9 - 6. We would like to go to Volcano National Park, but unfortunately all the Princess tours are sold out. We don’t want to rent a car. Can anyone recommend a private tour company?

Hey, Just wondering what you decided to do.  I just got an email saying our Hilo excursion had some changes (still going to the volcano, but not the Rainbow Falls) and I really want to do the volcano and Rainbow Falls.  Just not sure how to do it.  Would love to hear what you decided.

Excellent suggestions Scott!  I just booked the Volcano Natl Park and Waterfall tour with cbigisland.com for about half of the cruise line price. Great info!!!

You are aware that Rainbow Falls is in the opposite direction of the volcano. And it's in the outskirts of Hilo, so about a 15 minutes drive by taxi, depending on the timing of your volcano tour you might still be able to visit the Fall, which is not that impressive as it sounds and only with the right conditions you'll see the rainbow (been there twice and couldn't see it both times)

Thank you.  We just got back from our trip and had a great time.  Ends up our tour guide took us to Rainbow Falls anyway. Lol.  It was pretty but the 15 minutes we had there was enough.   😊
