Ability to be reached on British Isles Explorer for an emergency

Will be leaving next week on BIE. My 98 year old mother lives nearby in assisted living. I’m wondering how easy it is to be reached on this cruise. We just came back early August from the Viking Alaska cruise. We had limited and spotty access. I’m hoping it was because we were so remote. If you’ve been on the BIE could you let me know what your experience was? We had no issues on a previous river cruise in Europe but I’m wondering if there can be issues in the English Channel and the North Sea. I’ll be sure to leave the ship contact info. Thanks!
