momof02 Posted March 3, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 3, 2006 Hi Anyone Have An Experience About The Kids Club On The Norwegian Dawn. Sailing For 10 Days On 3/16. My Kids Are 3 And 6 And I Hope Thet Like It!!
2Cruise4Ever Posted March 3, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2006 Hi, Mom ~ we sailed on the Dawn last summer with our 2 kids: 2 and 7. They LOVED it!!! Every morning they asked me when they were going to the kids club. And, we had to practically drag them away when it was time to pick them up. The counselors are wonderful and so very patient. Keep one thing in mind, though: your 2 won't be together. They are very strict about age and unless you sign them up for group babysitting, they won't be in the same room. Other than that, I think the kids crew is perfect.
LorettaD Posted March 3, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 3, 2006 I am on the dawn this April and was thinking of putting my 2 year old in the program on some days. Can you tell me what they do with that age group and anything else you can think of. He is home with me and has little interaction with other kids, so I think he would love it! Thanks
2Cruise4Ever Posted March 3, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 3, 2006 Hi, Loretta ~ My 2yo DD was in that age group and at the time she was very shy of strangers and cried when we dropped her off. But, I called a few minutes later and they said she was just fine. It is similar to a daycare center atmosphere. They sing songs, play hand games, play circle games. They are read to and they watch videos, etc. I remember one specific thing that floored me: I was sitting at a slot machine in the afternoon on a sea day. It was a machine right near an entrance to the casino. All of a sudden I heard children's voices singing "A Pirate's Life For Me!" I turned around and there are all the toddlers in a line holding balloons shaped like swords, singing, and their faces were painted up like pirates. Here's a picture: http://community.webshots.com/photo/380150077/1380164843046439527eCQaXT When you drop him off, they will give you a beeper in case his diaper needs to be changed (I'm assuming he's not potty trained yet). Also, we were in a Penthouse so I had the cordless phone with me at all times and would call periodically and check in on the kids (my DS who is 7 was in the older age room). Take heart if your DS cries when you drop him off. The staff is used to it and really makes a great deal of effort to distract him once you're out of sight. Even though my DD cried when I dropped her off, she still asked every morning to go there. That told me she really enjoyed it. Also, they have kid-friendly (and kid-sized buffet) on the Dawn. I took several pictures of it. When you visit the link I pasted above, check out all 4 albums of the cruise. I took about 200 pictures. Happy Sailing! :D
DavidMcD Posted March 3, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 3, 2006 We are also on the 3/16 Dawn and have a 3 year old and a 5 year old. We parents have been on the Dawn before (without the kids) and checked out the kids club. We thought it looked great. We have been showing the kids pictures of the kids pool and playroom and they are excited! David
