Sea Legs Posted September 23, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2022 I heard that you can now take a home test not supervised by a health professional. You just write your name and date of test on a paper and take a photo of the test and the results and present it at boarding. Is this true?? I have a 5 year old and a 12 year old and we will be sailing to the Bahamas next week.
Old Fart Cruisers Posted September 23, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2022 https://www.carnival.com/Legal/covid-19-legal-notices/covid-19-guest-protocols?icid=advisory_cruisehealth_040122 TESTING REQUIREMENTS Vaccinated guests (with proof of vaccination) – are not required to take a pre cruise test except on cruises of 16 nights or longer or when required by a destination. Unvaccinated guests – guests age 5 years and older will have to present the negative results of a PCR or antigen test taken no earlier than 3 days before sailing or when required by a destination. For example: if a PCR test is required 3 days before sailing, the test may be taken as early as Wednesday for a cruise departing on Saturday. In addition to lab administered tests, self-testing is accepted for unvaccinated guests on cruises 15 nights and shorter. Certain destinations do not accept unsupervised pre-cruise testing, including Bermuda, Canada, Greece, or Spain. If used for visiting these destinations, self-testing must be supervised by a medical professional. Regardless of the type of test taken, unvaccinated guests will be required to present their negative test results via VeriFLY, or as part of the embarkation process. If the test taken is supervised by a medical professional, guests can show the negative result in the form of a printout, an email, or an app screen from the test provider. On voyages where destinations accept self-testing, guests can provide a picture of their negative home test or present the actual negative test itself at embarkation. Guests who self-test should write their name and test date on a piece of paper, place the negative test on the paper, and take a photograph of this on a mobile device. Please be prepared to show the image if required. Guests can choose, instead, to have a viral test taken or supervised by a trained person with written evidence of result. Testing Requirements for Bermuda, Canada, Greece, Spain and Cruises of 16 Nights or More (unsupervised self-tests are not accepted) Bermuda: Vaccinated guests age 2 years and older, and unvaccinated children ages 2-11 travelling with fully vaccinated parents/guardians, have to present a PCR test taken 4 days before sailing or an antigen test within 2 days. Unvaccinated guests 12 and older may take a PCR or antigen test within 2 days before sailing. Guests may be subject to additional testing on board which will be provided on a complimentary basis. Canada: All guests age 5 years and older have to present a PCR test taken within 3 days before sailing or an antigen test within 2 days before sailing. Additionally, unvaccinated guests will be given a complimentary test on board, within 24 hours of arrival to port, to comply with destination requirements. Greece: All guests 5 years and older have to present a PCR test taken within 3 days before sailing or an antigen test within 2 days before sailing. Vaccinated guests who are eligible for a booster and not boosted are considered unvaccinated and will be subject to additional testing on board which will be provided on a complimentary basis. Spain: Unvaccinated guests 12 years and older have to present a PCR test taken within 3 days before sailing or an antigen test within 2 days. Unvaccinated children 5-11 years must present a PCR/antigen test taken within 3 days. Cruises of 16 nights or more: All guests age 5 years and older have to present a PCR or antigen test taken within 3 days before sailing.
