bp traveler Posted March 3, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 3, 2006 Has anyone used RCI's kids club while cruising in Europe? Just wondering how it is and how it compares to Camp Carnival on the Caribbean? Thanks
Dr. Pam Posted April 4, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2006 Our children were 10 and 7 years when we did a 1 week cruise to the MED. We had a grand suite on this ship and it worked out wonderfully for our family. My DH and & had the big bed with the curtain divider and one child had the pull-out and the other had their own cot that we had requested. The ship is starting to show its age, but everything was kept very clean. Now, for the AO program. Our kids begged to go every evening right after dinner. We had taken them on all the shore excursions, so they were not left on the ship during the day. The counselors all had a degree either in education or related fields. Okay, so I am a little impressed. (My DH and I both are post-grad). The security in the Kids Club was excellant. And the best part was the fun games and crafts that Adventure Ocean offered. We went with another family with twin boys and by Day 2, we got on a roll. Our waiters (early seating), would bring the children's meal with our appetizers, and dessert for them a our appetizer plates were being cleared away. One of us (4 adults) would take the four children up to AO and sign them in. We now could have our leisurely dinner and partake in a show or casino and then pick them up at 10:00 AM. We were all happy and definitely all ready for bed. We got up very early for the port days (and had breakfast delivered to our room, to speed up our exit time. Hope this helps. P.S. I am a worry-wart Type A Mother. So, when I tell you that I was impressed with the Kids Club, it comes with a very high recommendation.) We are planning on doing a longer 12-night cruise in the Med during the summer of 2007. Can't wait to return to RCCL. (Having done Disney and Princess in the past.) Good luck and have fun! cruisethree Posted July 27, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 27, 2009 Thanks for the review. Wanted to see if anyone has done the April Mediterranean Splendor of the Seas and see how many English speaking kids were on that.
Onessa Posted July 28, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 28, 2009 We have done several Med cruises on RCCI (always in November) with our DD (now 13YO). We did Spledour two years ago. Nearly all of the kids on board were English speakers. Lots of kids - but not overwhelming. Splendour was one of her favorite cruises. We've never cruised Carnival, but have done Princess and Norwegean -- RCCI has the best of the three kids programs (at least according to DD)
