skierjj Posted October 22, 2022 Author #51 Share Posted October 22, 2022 “Tom’s port guides”. Very helpful to find Avis rental car. Booked this months ahead. Then researched Bay of Fundy trail. Found detailed maps online etc. These pics are a little bit of a hodgepodge in my research but I hope you get the gist. putting a little effort into looking places up, driving times, sea tide changes etc. can save a lot of $ in the long run. Yes you don’t get the expert commentary, and you might miss some sights or in depth history. 2
skierjj Posted October 22, 2022 Author #52 Share Posted October 22, 2022 Sorry about ads in those screenshots. We pick up the car. It is little. a Toyota Corolla. We used to be able to fit in these cars no problem. First we drive to St. Martins to see the sea caves and to walk on the sea floor while the tide is out. It’s a beautiful drive through the countryside and beautiful farm houses decorated with pumpkins for Halloween. We get to St. Martins and there is hardly anyone there. If you look close, you can see the sea caves. The lighting is not right because of the sun. IMG_0882.MOV

skierjj Posted October 22, 2022 Author #58 Share Posted October 22, 2022 Now we drive to some more overlooks and we get to the main area where there is a historic sawmill, cookhouse, and interpretive center by the river. Also not far is the suspension bridge.

skierjj Posted October 22, 2022 Author #63 Share Posted October 22, 2022 We dropped off car. Walked back to ship. Tonight’s dinner was at Le Bistro for Mike and me. We could only reserve a table for two when we booked so Glenna was on her own. We had wine, escargo and we both had cog au vin. Chicken and vegetables in a burgundy wine sauce. I loved mine. Mike said his chicken was a little dry. No pics. Time for burn the flood show. I thought it was excellent. Mike fell asleep during part of it. Excellent ballroom dancing with a modern twist. It was glow party night and we were prepared. Glenna had her glow outfit and we bought her some light up gloves. She had a great time being the hit of the dance floor. skierjj Posted October 22, 2022 Author #64 Share Posted October 22, 2022 Every night we played in the casino. Had fun. Glenna did well. I played video poker, dueces Wild, Glenna played roulette mostly. I won on Miss Red slot machine earlier in the week but put it all back in the end. Mike played everything.
skierjj Posted October 22, 2022 Author #65 Share Posted October 22, 2022 Last port day in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Here are pics from our aft balcony watching the Disney Magic come in. Also watching the dock workmen tie up our Breakaway. There is a light house on right with picture of rail if you look closely. Also look for goofy on the back of Disney ship. skierjj Posted October 22, 2022 Author #67 Share Posted October 22, 2022 Oops ignore top one. We reserved a car from National Rental car. We already had an upgrade to a bigger car, then they gave us another upgrade to a small suv. Much better. I had planned to drive to Lunenberg, Mahone Bay AND Peggy’s Cove. I just decided to do Peggy’s cove first. The rental car drop off was 5:00pm and our sailaway was at 8:00 so it cut down on our time. We stopped at a drugstore for stuff (Advil) and snacks. It was a pretty drive to Peggy’s cove with lots of historic houses, trees, lakes etc. IMG_0920.MOV IMG_0919.MOV IMG_0922.MOV

skierjj Posted October 22, 2022 Author #71 Share Posted October 22, 2022 Time for lunch…We saw this place with this sign “Lobster and Beer…Enough Said” Shaw’s Restaurant, driving up to Peggy’s cove and we weren’t sure about the place. But we asked someone who was just finished dining there and they said it was excellent. So I saw a special for 2 piece fish and chips plus beer for $8. Mike ordered lobster and beer. Glenna ordered shrimp and beer. It was a lovely setting and good weather. Then the food came out. Everything was huge! Mike had to deal with a WHOLE lobster 🦞. It was delicious. His was messy but good. I couldn’t finish mine.
skierjj Posted October 22, 2022 Author #72 Share Posted October 22, 2022 We only had one day at sea on this trip. I like to leave sea days unplanned, no shows, no dinner reservations. We slept in. I actually watched TV for the first time in a week, read my book, had breakfast, went to the spa, drank screwdrivers on the balcony, then Chardonnay. We packed up as much as we could. The day seems kinda like a blur. We tried to straighten out our internet minutes which were kind of a joke. We got our comps from Casino etc. Looked at final bill. We all went to Shanghai noodle place for dinner. Yum! Huge portions. It was time for ‘Prom night’ at Syd Norman’s pour house. We again waited in line taking turns holding place in line and ordering great drinks at Maltings Bar. Try the Matador if you get a chance. Some random pics, more of Glenna’s glow night. skierjj Posted October 22, 2022 Author #74 Share Posted October 22, 2022 And I bet you can’t guess who became the ‘prom queen’. Yep, our friend Glenna! The prom king was the ship’s captain by video!
