Chargerback and lost luggage

Should your luggage get lost. The claim will go to a company called Chargerback.

My unfortunate loss of a suitcase on disembarkation after a Seashore cruise was sent to Chargerback. Two weeks later I received an email that it had been found and to submit $51 for FedEx to ship it to me.

Guess what? FedEx “lost” the bright red suitcase.  I filed a claim and received a check for $100 from FedEx. This was substantially lower than the cost of the suitcase and items in the suitcase. Chargerback did not ask me the value, nor did I think to tell them to insure it for a higher value. So my net compensation was $41. I still have a trip insurance claim pending, so hopefully that might ease some of the pain.

The moral of this story, is that if your lost luggage is found, either pick it up yourself (if viable), or make sure the full value of the contents is insured.
