travelintra Posted March 6, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 6, 2006 Traveling to Cozumel in late aug. Want to take the family to a quite beach, not touristy. Playa palancar appears to look good. Any recommendations:confused: or alertatives for a quiet beach:confused:  Also I read somewhere there are monkeys at playa plancar, anyone know:confused:
lindalu62 Posted March 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2006 Palancar is probably the most "quiet". Definelty one of the least crowded! Did not see any monkeys (other than DH!) while I was there! Good food and drinks, very reasonable prices, very accomidating staff! Can go for a boat snorkel from there also if desired. Have fun!
bruce-r Posted March 7, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 7, 2006 And here are the photos I took of Playa Palancar in December.
Zeno Posted March 7, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 7, 2006 Playa Palancar is quite quiet and pleasant. The food is good and the bathrooms are clean. We enjoyed our day there. You WILL need water shoes - lots of broken shells etc in the water for about 15-20 feet from the shoreline.
CRUZ-AHOLIC Posted March 7, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 7, 2006 A couple of questions... What's the situation on beach lounge chairs? The pics show reg chairs under palapas, but the beach loungers seem to be scarce. Is the restaurant covered? (Need a place for some of my group to get away from the sun) Any music, ie recorded? Thanks! Cindy
Cozumel_Tom Posted March 7, 2006 #6 Share Posted March 7, 2006 They have some big 'ol wooden loungers. They aren't padded but I did see some mattresses/pads/you-know-what-I-mean as I was leaving...ask them to slap one of those on the lounger! travelintra Posted March 7, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted March 7, 2006 Thanks for the info. Pictures were great, gave me a better idea. How much did they charge to take you by boat to snorkle?? Anybody have any alternatives to playa palancar for a quite nice family beach??? How about transportation to and fro? Are there any taxis waiting at the beach to catch back to port?? How did you go about it?

When we were at Playa Palancar, there were several taxis waiting in the parking lot when we wanted to leave.
lindalu62 Posted March 8, 2006 #9 Share Posted March 8, 2006 Plenty of loungers available. Cab to the beach, 20.00 one way. Plenty of cabs lined up when we left in the afternoon (no shortage of cabs anywhere since Wilma!!). No music. There is a covered area with tables for eating. There are plenty of umbrellas on the beach for anyone wanting shade there too. No charge to get in. Can go snorkeling from a boat that anchors at their beach for 30.00 for about 1 1/2 hour. Do bring water shoes! Very sharp coral/shells in areas.
