Dumb Question

Checked luggage - you have the airline put in the storage area of the plane and you give it to a porter so it gets to your room on a cruise ship.

Carryon luggage - you keep with you all the time. Be sure to keep cameras, laptops, prescriptions, and other valuables in your carryon luggage.

(Of course, we're assuming that you have to fly to your embarkation port) About the checked luggage .... you check it in with the airline like D4 said. Then when you get to your destination you can either give it to the porter, or if you want to lug it around you can take it to your cabin yourself.

Definitely with the carry-on should be stuff that you would be really upset at losing.

If you let us know which ship you're sailing, I'm sure there will be posters who can give more specific answers.

Sorry, but that's incorrect. You can't take your luggage onto the ship yourself - unless it's small enough to fit into the 11"x17" x-ray machine opening.

Usually, carry-on items will fit through there, but not large pieces of luggage.

Thus, the term "checked luggage". You check your luggage with the porters at the dock, and they put them on the ship.:)

If there are no stupid questions, then what kind of questions do stupid people ask? Do they get smart just in time to ask questions?

Checked luggage is checked luggage, the definition doesn't change from ship to ship.
