Scuba diving recommendations

Recommended Posts

Any dive center with qualified instructors can teach a discover scuba course. Whether a shop can do it for you and coordinate it with your scheduled port call is a question better suited to the individual shop.

In general:

A discover scuba program is designed for persons who are not certified divers.

Maximum depth limit is 40ft.

Minimum age is 10.

Maximum student to instructor ratio is 8:1 in a pool. It drops to 4:1 in the open water.

There are standard health questions.

Depending upon your answers to the health questions, you may be required to seek the approval of a physician prior to diving.

It can be very dangerous to lie about your medical condition in order to dive.

You must complete the entire program with each shop - it is NOT transferrable. (This is the single most commonly ignored dive industry standard, in my opinion)
