Rare drron29 Posted April 23, 2023 Author #526 Share Posted April 23, 2023 It was amazing how many churches there were in the old city which I have now gone back to.
Rare drron29 Posted April 23, 2023 Author #527 Share Posted April 23, 2023 Though this church was now an artist's workshop.

Rare drron29 Posted April 23, 2023 Author #533 Share Posted April 23, 2023 Didn't have to wait long as a tender was just about to depart for the ship so met Rojaan at Kaiseki for the usual lunch choices. Then some shots from our balcony as the sun was now behind us. With Vesuvius and Naples now easily seen.
Rare drron29 Posted April 23, 2023 Author #534 Share Posted April 23, 2023 A drink in the Panorama lounge. Going through the list of cocktails. Not sure what this one was. And once more to Atlantide. The Daily menu plus a few changes to the basic menu. The wines for the night.
Rare drron29 Posted April 23, 2023 Author #535 Share Posted April 23, 2023 And now the food. Rojaan began with the mushroom and cheese turnover whilst I had the curried cauliflower. Both were nice. I then had the baked polenta with mushroom and gorganzola cream sauce. Delicious. For mains Rojaan had the salmon Amiyaki Gohan which she loved and I once more went for the fillet. And for desserts we both had the eclair. One of the better Silversea offerings for dessert. I woke up during the night on our way to Sicily and saw this - Probably a ferry from Sicily.
Rare drron29 Posted April 23, 2023 Author #536 Share Posted April 23, 2023 In the morning we were in Palermo. The huge Costa Smeralda was a short distance away. It can carry 10 times the passenger numbers with 2.5 increase in crew numbers compared to the Moon.
Rare drron29 Posted April 24, 2023 Author #537 Share Posted April 24, 2023 And this platform also nearby. And now I walked into town. I think some of this is just made up.

Rare drron29 Posted April 24, 2023 Author #540 Share Posted April 24, 2023 I was heading towards the English Garden. And in 2 days time they were having a cannolo festival.
Rare drron29 Posted April 24, 2023 Author #541 Share Posted April 24, 2023 I wonder if any money laundering goes on here. The orange plastic is surrounding a large area of the garden being renovated.
Rare drron29 Posted April 24, 2023 Author #542 Share Posted April 24, 2023 A beautiful area in the city. Then walked across the road to a small garden. Seems the villa is missing.
scseas Posted April 24, 2023 #543 Share Posted April 24, 2023 Sorry if I missed this but did you not try SALT yet? I would be curious to see a menu from the Med and I would imagine the food would be delicious for this region.

Rare drron29 Posted April 24, 2023 Author #546 Share Posted April 24, 2023 Then I walked the back streets heading in the general direction of the Cathedral. One thing you noticed was the parking. More often tnan not the cars were parked on corners and the pedestrian crossings. Sometimes 3 deep. Not surprisingly I noticed a few mirrors like this.
Rare drron29 Posted April 24, 2023 Author #547 Share Posted April 24, 2023 It was here I witnessed an accident. I am sure it was a set up. This black car on the crossing was turning right from a one way street. She was signalling that she was turning right. A motorcycle tried to overtake on her right side and seemed to collide. The motorcyclist was obviously accusing the driver of not signalling and very soon had 2 others who seemed to be backing him up. As the only non Italian speaking witness and arguing against 3 young men I thought would be a little dangerous.
Rare drron29 Posted April 24, 2023 Author #548 Share Posted April 24, 2023 Maybe I should have stopped here. And I came across a market. A lot of street food as well as fruit, veggies and seafood.

Rare drron29 Posted April 24, 2023 Author #550 Share Posted April 24, 2023 I guess it didn't help that across the street was a police station. And I came out at what I think is a major theatre. It did have a ticket office
