deb380 Posted March 12, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2006 Through our great threads there seems to be talk about Carnival not getting you off in time when you book your own excursion. Any tricks to the trade on this. We are planning to book our own in Grand Caymen. Thanks
lynpat Posted March 12, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 12, 2006 We almost always book our own and have never had a problem. We were in Grand Cayman 3 weeks ago and were off the ship by the second or third tender. We were tendered to a spot south east of George town where there were plenty of buses and taxis waiting to take everyone where they needed to go. There was even a little booth there with info. We headed to Georgetown and rented a jeep, made our way around on our own to Rum Point(Great restaurant right on the beach) and out to Seven Mile beach. In the past we have headed to the airport to rent a car there, either way works fine. We have found that we are usually about 1 step before the tour buses (leaving Turtle Farm as they are arriving, leaving Rum factory as they are arriving, etc.) Really is nice to beat the crowds and go at your own pace. Have a great time
serene56 Posted March 12, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 12, 2006 if your ship is docking at 8am you can not expect to meet a private vendor by 8am. sometimes ships get in a little later then what is posted. First tender is usually for cruise excursion people. You will be on the 2nd or third with no problem.
