connecting balconies on Carnival

Recommended Posts

Some of Carnvial's ships have connecting balconies...does anyone know if the Miracle is included? At first, our TA assured us that we'd have connecting balconies, but now we hear that this class of ships doesn't have them. This was of utmost importance to us, and was a deciding factor in choosing this ship/cruise. Of course, we've already made our final payment, so it is too late to change our booking to another ship that has adjoining rooms/balconies. (The few adjoining rooms on this ship are already sold out). Do we have any recourse????

My understanding is that the divider can be opened between all balconies. Unfortunately, it will affect the view from one of the cabins. On some of the older ships it may not be possible due to rusting etc.

Valentina, We booked adjoining balcony cabins on the Miracle 6/26 like you. Others who were on the Miracle said that you can have the steward take the partition out on the balconies. I haven't cruised on the Miracle yet, so I'm only going by what I've been told. Have you tried calling Carnival direct? They should be able to tell you for sure. See you aboard!

Everytime I've called Carnival, they said no. When my TA booked the reservation, she was told yes, but everytime she's called after that to confirm that the divider between balconies is removable, she's been told no. So it's confusing. She's going to call someone 'higher up' on Tuesday, and if the answer is still no, she's going to insist that they do something for us (like shipboard credit or upgrade) for giving us the wrong info at the time of booking.

Valentina, I hope they do give you a shipboard credit. The only reason we got the connecting cabins is because we booked a while ago. By the way, we were on the Homeric in the eighties. Wasn't that a nice line!? We enjoyed it. (Signing off for tonight to watch a movie, so bye for now).

I sailed the Miracle on 5/9/04, and the balconies between the cabins can be opened by your room steward. So as long as your cabins are all in a row, it should not be a problem to get the dividers opened.

I too was under the impression that the divider can be removed between the balconies by the cabin steward. We were planning on doing that on our July Miracle cruise.

Crisp1,

If they are removing the divider, why would it affect the view from one of the cabins?

Because the opened balcony divider would then be in front of one of the cabin's windows. It would not affect the view from on the balcony, but it would block part of the window from inside the cabin.

Just got off the Conquest and we had the divider opened between our daughter and son in laws cabin and ours, so our grand daughter could go back and forth without having to go in the hallways. The divider opened like a door and swung back and was latched to the wall. It did obstruct our window a little but the curtain was usually pulled that far anyway, so it was not a problem for us.
Have a good time,

I believe you are getting a "no" from the folks at Carnival because you are asking if the dividers can be REMOVED. The answer is no they do not physically remove them. Ask if they can be opened and you'll be pleasantly surprised. We have sailed several times and have always had the dividers opened as we have sailed with friends. We are off again in October and have adjoining rooms with my parents and will have the dividers opened again. We usually ask our Steward to open them immediately and the response is usually he will have them open for us by evening. Hubby always gives him a $20 and says, "as soon as you can get to it please" - never fails, they are opened within minutes. Also remember to bring a bungee strap so if you would like a little privacy, you can close them back yourself only to be opened again later.

If you stop to notice, ALL the balcony doors are opened in between cruises to clean them.

There is a hook to keep them open if you ask your steward to open them, and depending on your actual location, the opened partition can block your window in your stateroom, or if you're lucky, not.

When we were on the Victory, a same came up one night. All they dividers mid-ship popped open. My husban was out in his undies trying to hock ours back up to stop the banging.

When we were on the Pride last year, we had requested that our balcony door be opened. The room steward we had was giving us a problem about it but, we knew that it was possible because others who had been on the Pride had reported it on cruise critic.

So, my Dad was able in around 30 seconds to open it with a butter knife. It was extremely easy and obvious as to where the knife needed to be inserted to unlatch the door. A few hours later, a maintenance person came and installed a latch that attached the opened door to the balcony so that banging would not be an issue so I guess the room steward decided to help us after all.

Days until Sapphire Princess!!!
