Thad409 Posted April 26, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2023 we were thinking about renting a golfcart for a few hours while we are in Key West, would this be advisable are would it just be better to walk. Thanks for any input
Rothko1 Posted April 26, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 26, 2023 It really depends on what you intend to do. If you want to get off the ship, and just stay around Duval street and the attractions, restaurants and shopping near there, the answer is no. Walking would be just fine. Or hop on the Conch Train or one of the trolleys and use that for transportation. However, if you want to get out and really see some parts of Key West, or if you don't want to make the long hike down to some of the attractions, such as the Hemingway House or the Southernmost Point, then having a golf cart would be advisable. jaga04 Posted April 30, 2023 #3 Share Posted April 30, 2023 Another thing to consider is that if you want to go into attractions, you will have to park the golf cart in a parking spot, like any other vehicle. Parking isn't easy in Old Town.

It's not a difficult walk at all and is a little over a mile each way, I think. Much easier to stop wherever we wanted for a drink, key lime pie, Hemingway house, etc.
keywester33 Posted May 6, 2023 #5 Share Posted May 6, 2023 There is also a free loop bus you can use that runs through Old Town. It’s called the DuvalbLoop. stop 4 is by the cruise ship dock. https://www.carfreekeywest.com/free-duval-loop-bus

Parking is a problem.
Paula B Posted October 24, 2023 #7 Share Posted October 24, 2023 My husband can not walk very far so we thought about using the hop on and off bus. If we hop on the DuvalbLoop bus at the port approximately how long does it take to get to the most southernmost point?
Cuckoo7 Posted October 26, 2023 #8 Share Posted October 26, 2023 Not too long - 10-15 minutes maybe. Few stops between the port the Southernmost point. Here's a map: https://www.cityofkeywest-fl.gov/326/Duval-Loop
jaga04 Posted October 31, 2023 #9 Share Posted October 31, 2023 10-15 minutes seems about right. Keep in mind that the bus does a loop and there will be more stops on the way back to the port, probably taking roughly 30 minutes if you stay on the whole way. You'll get to see much of Old Town.
