Gaminer Posted June 2, 2004 #28 Share Posted June 2, 2004 Hi all, We are going on the Glory on the 9/11 western itenerary. We were on her Sept. 13 last year and had such a good time we just had to sail her again. dixiegirl, If I'm not mistaken the port of Key West has been replaced by a stop in Costa Maya, Mexico. I believe this is due to repairs on the dock at Key West. This itenerary change will last until sometime in October. mocka Posted June 2, 2004 Author #29 Share Posted June 2, 2004 dixiegirl It sounds like you might have a guarantee room. If thats the case you will find out a few different ways what your room is. Either it will be on your "cruise docs" which in the past have been mailed to us about a month before the cruise. Then on the Destiny our room was assigned the day we checked in. Call the TA they will give you the scoup. carolinagirl621 From what I can tell Glory seems to be like most of the ships. I was quite nervous on my first cruise. Just being on a ship...etc. but let me tell you we were on a small 20,000 ton ship the Imperial Majest crusing across the gulf stream during a rough night . Never got nervous and actually not sick either. You will feel safe and happy to be on vacation. Just take the advice though on the bonine stuff . I've had to take it once on Destiny. We had the dining room in the back of the ship which was kind of rocky. Didn't feel so great , took the bonine and was fine . So maybe you could request the dining room mid ship. WOW LOOK AT ALL THESE FUTURE (and some past) CRUISERS! I'll have to keep a list of who is sailing and when to make sure we give a good ol message board BON VOYAGE mocka 11/13 Carnival Glory! dixiegirl Posted June 2, 2004 #30 Share Posted June 2, 2004 Terry...How did you find out about the change in itenerary from Key West to Costa Maya? Is it posted on the Carnival Website? Mocka...What is Bonine? Is it different from Dramamine? I know I need to take something while on board because I get motion sick just driving myself in a car!!! Gaminer Posted June 2, 2004 #32 Share Posted June 2, 2004 Leigh Ann, It was posted on the Carnival site, but I can't seem to find it now. But if you will go to this link and click on the lower Western Caribbean link, wich includes both our cruise dates, you will find that Monday is not included in the itenerary at all. This is just a glitch on the website. Monday is the day we are in Costa Maya. If you click on the other "Western Carribean" link you will see that Key West is included in the itenerary, but not until Nov. 20. Sorry this seems so drawn out and I hope I didn't confuse anyone but maybe this will help. Glory Pictures Terry Till we sail the Glory again! 9/13/03 Glory Western 9/11/04 Glory Western (again!) cherieberrie Posted June 2, 2004 #34 Share Posted June 2, 2004 HI! Just got back from 5/22 sailing on the Glory. The ship was incredible! The only time I noticed it being crowded was embarkation and debarkation...lines for food moved really fast. I didn't notice the ship rocking at all. Last cruise we literally slid back from the dining room table each time the ship rolled. I was on the 2nd floor aft and felt/heard alot of vibration when we were docking. This was useful as my wake-up call since I had an inside cabin. We snorkeled in Belize, Playasol in Cozumel, and went to the Beach in Costa Maya. Costa Maya was substituted for Key West because of construction. We found out from Carnival about a month prior to sailing. We heard it hear first! Ask away! mkmom Posted June 2, 2004 #35 Share Posted June 2, 2004 Dixie Girl and Terisu10, bonine is like dramamine, but its not supposed to make you tired. My hubbie does a lot of fishing(used to be a charter captain) and this is what he has always kept on his boats for seasick guests. Tracey, Thanks for the response about the kids club, my daughter loves to feel older too Now I know what my mother felt! What excursions is everyone planning on doing? Gaminer Posted June 2, 2004 #40 Share Posted June 2, 2004 mkmom, Right now it looks like we are going to do snorkeling in Belize with Coral Breeze, we went with them last year and had an absolutely wonderful time. In Cozumel we may do the horseback riding, but we will definatly do Paradise Beach. There have been many posts about this place on the boards, we just have to try it out! Still aren't sure about the other two though, these may just be "hang out days". Any past cruisers have any suggestions on Costa Maya? islandgram Posted June 3, 2004 #50 Share Posted June 3, 2004 Hey folks .. not Glory related, but I deal with sea sickness alot. (I work on the lobster boat with my DH in the summer and fall!!) I use a motion sickness pill that I get at Walmart for around $4.00 for 100. They are EQUATE brand Motion Sickness tablets. I pop 2 in the morning before I leave the house and not sick and NOT SLEEPY!! (Even Bonine made me sleepy, but meds effect everyone differently). Just a note... I went prepared on our cruise last March and didn't take a single pill. No problems at all with motion sickness. Hope this helps.
