Shuffleboard & Glory Questions

Hi all,

I am taking my 2nd Carnival cruise on the Glory May 20th. This will be my father's first cruise ever. I was hoping to get him to play some shuffleboard, but I recently read that some ships are getting rid of shuffleboard in place of golf/putting stations?

Does glory have shuffleboard? If it has golf, is there an extra charge for this? What other activities (please don't say BINGO) does the Glory offer that a man of 65 could enjoy. He is already somewhat disappointed by the fact that the pools on the Glory are apparently quite small.

Does the Glory really have a volleyball court? is it inside or on an open sports deck? I would hate to hit the ball overboard and knock out a dolphin! Sure - get arrested in Belize or Costa Maya for animal cruelty!

Is it true that only 2 decks on the Glory go entirely from the aft to the front of the boat? (decks 5 and 9)? If so, does this mean you have to zigzag your way through the ship when going from one room to another? I have only been on smaller ships, and my father gets frustrated easily.

Also, does anyone have the Carnival Glory Capers? I know some are posted on webshots.com, but they are very hard to read, and quite past dated.

Sorry for the long post, and thanks for any info you can give.

Happy Cruising!

I can't answer a lot of your ??? because I haven't taken my Glory cruise yet. Here is a link for the Eastern capers, I think you will be going Western though right? It will give you an idea anyway of all the activities.

Yes, it is true about the decks not going the whole length. Hopefully after a day of exploring we will be okay. This link shows the layout.

Deck 5 goes all the way through but you dont have to zigzag all the way through-

when on the Liberty- same class as the Glory- we had a cabin that was aft. we found by taking the elevator to 5 we go to the front and take the elevator down to see the shows. or do miship and take the elevator to 3 for dinner. You do learn your way around quickly.

It's going to take you more than a day to figure out the ship. The only decks I remember not being able to go all the way through were the decks with the Golden and Platinum dining rooms. All other decks you could go all the way through.

I don't remember seeing any shuffle board players on our cruise. There is a netted area to play volleyball and basketball so you don't have to worry about injuring any dolphins:)

Have a great time. I am undergoing severe cruise withdrawals right now:(

There is shuffleboard on the top deck (12 maybe?). There's just one painted area, but it was rarely used so you should be able to enjoy it.

There are no decks below 9 (Lido) where you can walk around the exterior of the ship. On the other decks, except 3-5, you can walk fwd to aft through the cabin corridors.

I have the Capers from my Western sailing but my scanner bit the dust....

Here are some of the activities that were available during sea days of our cruise.....

Outdoor -

A couple of contests daily such as Hairy Chest, Survivor at Sea, Ship Building, Synch Swim, In the Bag Challange, etc.

The outdoor activities are talked about a lot and I am thinking that you are more interested in hearing about the other activities that did not take place near the pool so I will be more specific on those but feel free to ask about the others if you want more detail....(I am leaving out the Bingo and the Casino of course and there were also various health seminars offered from the spa)

1st day at sea - Trivia, Country Dance Class, Game Show Mania, Wine Tasting, Name that Tune, Golf lessons, Putting Contest, Golf Seminar, Treasure Hunt, Negotiating for Diamonds/Gems Seminar, Art Auction

2nd day at sea - Trivia Fun(a couple), Scattegories, Dance Contest, Sea Fued Game, Dance Class, Newlywed Not So NewlyWed Game Show, Towel Animal Folding Demo, Golf Lessons, Art Auction, Card Players Meet, Tea Time,

3rd day at sea - Trivia, Dance Class, Millionaire Game, Battle of the Sexes Game, Golf Lessons, Card Players Meets, Famous Faces Game, Art Auction,

There were also afternoon classical music options indoors, some other shopping talks.

In the evening hours there was a wide variety of music and dancing options as well as many shows throughout the week

Feel free to ask any questions and I'll look up whatever I can until I can get this posted in my pic link.

Thank you for the replies everyone. My cabin is located mid ship on deck 7 (Empress Deck) Hopefully the dining rooms, casino, and lido deck pool are easy enough to find. Also, I will be taking walkie talkies. I know alot of people take these. How bad is the reception on these? I dont plan on having conversations - we just want to be able to tell each other where we are on the boat, or what time to meet each other. Thanks again.
