jayjay416 Posted August 22, 2023 #1 Share Posted August 22, 2023 I would sure appreciate it if anyone can help me. I'm planning on buying $500.00 AARP gc for 4 days out of Galveston. The total cheers price is $424.46. Can I keep the balance of $75.54 on the card and use it for OBC on the next cruise? If so, how do I give myself OBC? Carnival has always given it to me for one reason or another. Thanks!!
wemjam Posted August 22, 2023 #2 Share Posted August 22, 2023 (edited) When you go to buy your cheers package you will enter your gift card. Once paid you will have the $75.54 balance left on the gift card. You can make a note on it and then save it and use it next time as you wish. If you want, you CAN also go buy yourself cruise cash. You can not give yourself OBC. However, cruise cash is sold in increments of $25, $50, $75, $100. So you could buy yourself $75.00 in cruise cash. That would leave $.54 on the gift card too. This cruise cash is then "in the bank" like OBC when you get onboard. However, if you do not use all the cruise cash you buy you lose it. There are ways to "cash it out" on board, but that is another discussion. Be careful, and make sure if you do this you buy cruise cash and not the cruise BAR cash. There is a difference. Cruise Cash can be used on ANYTHING on board that you swipe your sail and sign card for (stores, bars, casino, etc). Bar is just that, only for drink purchases at a BAR. The easiest thing is just to take it with you with the balance left and then once on board the ship you can have it applied to your account via a kiosk or at guest services. I myself do add "cruise cash" to my accounts as I know I will spend what I add and I personally like having the money in the bank when I get on board and do not have to worry about carrying/losing/etc. gift cards. Once it is added to my account as cruise cash it is there and ready before I ever get on. But to each their own. You can also save it and use it for payment on a future cruise you may book as well if you think you will sail again. It can be used on board, or for payment for the cruise cost itself.
