hogwildcruzers Posted March 17, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2006 This will be my first Alaska cruise, all past cruises have been to the Caribbean - warmer climates. Need some info on what do you wear for dinner on the Alaskan cruises? Like to dress nice for the entire evening. Need your help.
caviargal Posted March 17, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2006 I have done 5 Alaska sailings and pack pretty much the same as I do for the Caribbean. For evenings, one pair dressy black slacks with 2-3 different embellished twin sets or pretty blouses, silk mid calf silky wrap skirts with fitted tops, dresses, etc. For formal nights, I pack long dresses. I will pack a heavier fabric than I do for the islands and bring more sleeved blouses and knit tops as it is chillier than the warmth of the islands. Also, I wear more mules and closed toed shoes in the evenings than I do in the Caribbean. Have fun, as it is truly beautiful there!
lstrong Posted March 17, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2006 We were warm on the Mercury in Alaska, especially in the dining room. Of course, I brought warmer clothes thinking... Alaska... cold. My suggestion, dress the same as any other cruise for evenings (unless you want to go outside). Laurie
tangerinebunny Posted March 17, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2006 I'm glad that you asked that, Sherry; I was wondering too. I'm bringing a sweater to dinner just in case. But if anyone wants to buy me a cashmere shawl, it's a go.
Fblack Posted March 17, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 17, 2006 I have been on over 30 cruises including 4 to Alaska. The last was this past August. Except for the formal nights, the other nights are a bit less dressy.
