Rare drron29 Posted November 19, 2023 Author #401 Share Posted November 19, 2023 That night it was back to La Terraza for dinner. Rojaan had the carpaccio which was very nice and then the osso Buco which was so tough it was virtually inedible. Several other passengers report the same. We cancelled all future bookings. But friends got on in Singapore and they love La Terraza. However they also reported the Osso buco was very tough. I had the lasagna which was disappointing and the sea bass which was very nice. Rojaan Had dessert and I a very disappointing cheese plate. They did find some gorganzola for me but it was way inferior to th previous product they had on board. My red wine. Night had fallen. Lots of fishing boats out most after squid. They came quite close at times.
Rare drron29 Posted November 19, 2023 Author #402 Share Posted November 19, 2023 (edited) The next day was a sea day. Changing my exercise regime a bit, Still do the 24 laps on deck 11 in the morning but after lunch a new circuit. Take the stairs down to deck 8,walk to the boutique and take the stairs up to the Panorama lounge - thy are much wider steps and much easier to ascend - and then back to the forward stairs. 10 - 12 circuits is roughly the same steps as 16 laps on deck 11 but is in air conditioned comfort. Sometimes I admire the floral displays as I go round. Lunch in Kaiseki. Then dinner in Atlantide' Rojaan had the crab salad and then the lamb cutlets. And I had the smoked duck salads, tomato soup and mushroom risotto. We are doing well on the trivia with a well balanced team then 3 of us go on to the putting. The other 2 are good golfers and if luck is running my way I do alright. very disappointed today though. two holes in one and a 2 but finished second to a fellow who had 3 holes in one. There is French father and son who come to the putting. The son is 9 years old, plays of 19 in the men's club competition but is a delightful boy. One of my partners is obviously reasonably well known in Scottish golf as he gave the father his number and said just ring and I will arrange for the 2 of you to play a round at St. Andrews Old Course. Magic happens on Silversea. Edited November 19, 2023 by drron29
Brad1185 Posted November 20, 2023 #403 Share Posted November 20, 2023 I am enjoying your pictures and posts. Like seeing the menus and food items. I must say the menus look very weird with strange items listed. The presentation also seems off and the cheese plate you showed looked bad. The repetitive menus is also off putting. Our first SS cruise is this coming October. The closest comparison I have is past Viking Ocean cruises and one Oceania cruise. Both of their dining options, menus and food offerings seem miles above SS from what I am seeing here.
Rare drron29 Posted November 21, 2023 Author #404 Share Posted November 21, 2023 In the morning we dock at Laem Chabang. Beautiful car park views. The busses are ready.

But if your Viking and Oceana cruises were pre pandemic they also may have taken a hit as food prices are up considerably. On the other hand the proof of a meal is in the eating. The steaks I have had in Atlantide are up there with the best I have had. Their seafood is cooked perfectly and the meals at Kaiseki we have found very good especially the Teppanyaki at night, The major disappointments are the Italian meals.
Brad1185 Posted November 21, 2023 #406 Share Posted November 21, 2023 We did one Viking cruise post pandemic and did an Oceanian cruise mid October. I must say both the Viking and Oceania cruises had some amazing menus and all most everything was excellent. Hoping SS steps up and delivers the same. thanks for the menus and food pictures. Rare drron29 Posted November 21, 2023 Author #407 Share Posted November 21, 2023 On the first day in port we stayed aboard. We had no desire to spend 2.5 hours each way in a bus to spend 4-5 hours there. besides we have had over 100 visits to Bangkok. so whilst doing my lapa i watched ships movements. Turnover of container ships was quick.
Rare drron29 Posted November 21, 2023 Author #408 Share Posted November 21, 2023 Lunch in Atlantide. forgot the menu this time. Rojaan had the minute steak with mushroom sauce that she was happy with. Whilst I had the Quesidillas and the spicy tuna. I liked both. For dessert it was something I have forgotten sorry. Then sunset and the return of the Bangkok tours.
Rare drron29 Posted November 21, 2023 Author #409 Share Posted November 21, 2023 Dinner in Atlantide, some menu changes. Rojaan's white wine which of course is the grape of Pouilly fume wines from the Loire. The gentleman at the next table was not impressed saying Pouilly Fuisse wines were much better. The sommelier said they are totally different wines so does sir like Sauvignon blanc or chardonnay. he replied sauvignon blanc. Pouilly Fuisse wines of course are made with chardonnay grapes. He compounded his ignorance by demanding a Chateau Neuf- de- Pape as his red wine. Just which one he didn't say. Rojaan had the scallops and strawberry followed by the king prawns again she liked both. I had the Carpaccio then the Prime rib. Excellent. For dessert Rojaan as usual had the pavlova and I the sticky toffee pudding.
Aussieflyer Posted November 21, 2023 #410 Share Posted November 21, 2023 Interesting that Muse is a Laem Chabang as I thought she would have been small enough to go up the river. From memory friends were on Azamara a few years ago (same basic size) and they were able to. Agree that the drive from LC to Bangkok is something to avoid if possible. Rare drron29 Posted November 21, 2023 Author #411 Share Posted November 21, 2023 On the second day I went on the sanctuary of truth and Pattaya viewpoint excursion. more cars parked further from the port. And a fire engine parking lot. Some views along the highway to Pattaya. And then we arrive at the Sanctuary. more a tourist park. But the main attraction is spectacular. The largest wooden temple in Thailand.
Rare drron29 Posted November 21, 2023 Author #412 Share Posted November 21, 2023 In truth though this is not really a temple but one man's crusade for world peace. There is obviously a big effort to bring in the revenue with bus rides, jet skis and motor boat rides along with the zoo and elephant rides. You are divided into large groups. We had to wait for enough English speaking guides. Then you have to put on a hard hat to tour the temple. First taken through the carving workshop.

Rare drron29 Posted November 21, 2023 Author #421 Share Posted November 21, 2023 Now we headed back to the Muse. I've heard of Indian restaurants giving you the trots but never the gallops before. Now back at the dock and you weave your way through a souvenir shop.
Rare drron29 Posted November 24, 2023 Author #422 Share Posted November 24, 2023 Back in time for lunch at Atlantide. We both had the coconut prawns. Then I had the pappadelle which was good and Rojaan the brisket which was a little dry and no photo. Then the cherry clafoutis to finish.
Rare drron29 Posted November 24, 2023 Author #423 Share Posted November 24, 2023 Back to Atlantide for dinner. The red wine. I had my little vegetable plot followed by the scallop and enoki mushroom soup. I enjoyed both. Rojaan again had the scallops and strawberries so no photo then the mushroom risotto. A bit bland. I had the strip steak. I must say by this time I was getting very tired of the same accompanying veggies on every dish. We both finished with the raspberry delight. It was delightful.
Rare drron29 Posted November 24, 2023 Author #424 Share Posted November 24, 2023 (edited) Having stayed in Pattaya a couple of times at the former Sheraton Pattaya we were used to the massed squid boats. With some special effects. We were now having 2 sea days before reaching Singapore a changeover port. So lunch again at Atlantide. The wine. Rojaan had the spinach and funghi and I the pasta. Then Rojaan had the scaloppine. And I had the meatballs but the picture won't post. They were nice though. Rojaan then had the chocolate pancake and I the cassata. Rare drron29 Posted November 24, 2023 Author #425 Share Posted November 24, 2023 Dinner that night was with our trivia team in Indochine. no menu this time but it hadn't changed. It was however also our wedding anniversary. One member of our team produced this to celebrate. Rojaan had the chicken skewer and the beef char siu. I had the foie gras and chicken Marsala. All dishes were very good. It was a very enjoyable late night. possibly better because that day we had won trivia with a perfect score. The next day was lunch in Kaiseki. As I went to close the curtains for the afternoon nap it was exciting to see another ship.
