42trvl Posted March 18, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 18, 2006 We had planned to spend a few days pre-cruise in Miami and stay at the Four Seasons. Due to kids' camp schedules, we will now have to fly in the night before our cruise leaves, and as the hotel will just be to sleep in for one night, don't feel it worthwhile staying at the Four Seasons. We would still like a nice hotel and would appreciate a recommendation for something nice and convenient to the port. We will probably get to the hotel around 10pm, having had dinner, so location in terms of activities and conveniences is really not that important. Thanks. CruisinGrams Posted March 19, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 19, 2006 We stayed at the Holiday Inn Downtown port of Miami last year. It was very clean and convenient to the port. Bayside Marketplace is right across the street and it is about a $6.00 ride by cab to the port.
signman Posted March 19, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 19, 2006 Take a look at the Intercontinental on Chopin Plaza. Looks right over the port.
Pagan Posted March 19, 2006 #5 Share Posted March 19, 2006 Hi we are due to cruise out of Miami in May and as we will be arriving late from the U.K. we wanted something fairly hassle free. The company we booked with suggested searching through www.sidestep.com. We opted for Hampton Inn & Suites, which offers a free shuttle from the airport plus the receptionist said someone locally does a shuttle to the port for $10 a head. Including breakfast it sounds a good deal and had a great write up on tripadvisor. If you wanted 5* they also had the Conrad for $162 - a big saving, but they are too grand to offer a shuttle, may be if we had two nights it would be worth a treat! signman Posted March 19, 2006 #7 Share Posted March 19, 2006 Conrad at $162 sounds like a very good deal. I'd grab it, unless it's a final sale price.
42trvl Posted March 20, 2006 Author #8 Share Posted March 20, 2006 Thanks for the responses and suggestions. So far, the best rate I've found for a hotel in that area/category is the Biscayne Bay Marriott for $144/nt and they have a shuttle to the port at $6/person. The Holiday Inn Port of Miami is about the same price. Intercontinental was over a $100 more for the cheapest room, and since we are really just getting there in time to sleep for one night, didn't think it was worth it. I'll check into the Conrad also, but between the Marriott and Holiday Inn, any reason to choose one over the other?
42trvl Posted March 20, 2006 Author #9 Share Posted March 20, 2006 if the conrad does not cost much more, is it nicer than the other hotels? Thanks.
signman Posted March 20, 2006 #10 Share Posted March 20, 2006 Haven't stayed there, but I believe it's very new. Conrad is like the luxury Hilton brand.
