kajsb Posted June 10, 2004 #27 Share Posted June 10, 2004 When I was growing up, only little girls drank the Shirley Temples and the boys drank a Roy Rogers (same drink different name. No boy would be caught dead drinking a Shirley Temple. Kathy Cruise with Mom- Early 80th birthday celebration!! Since we sailed on the Pride in aft cabin 4228! lawalz23 Posted June 10, 2004 #30 Share Posted June 10, 2004 Hi, can you tell me what size glass you get with a soda card? I heard it was a six ounce glass? Do you get the whole can of soda when using a card? Are there any decaffinated diet drinks? Sorry if this is repititive, but we are trying to determine if they are worthwhile. Thanks. kajsb Posted June 10, 2004 #31 Share Posted June 10, 2004 For me, the soda cards were not worth it. I drink a lot of diet soda and it was a small, probably 6 ozs, and I found it inconvenient to have to run to the bar to constantly get a refill. I drink caffeine free diet coke and sometimes they had it sometimes they don't. On the cruise we just went on, I found it much more convenient and economical to take my own sodas on the ship. tkelly Posted June 10, 2004 #32 Share Posted June 10, 2004 I also would like to take my own diet coke. Is it best to pack them in the carry on or to put the plastic bottles in the other luggage?
kajsb Posted June 11, 2004 #33 Share Posted June 11, 2004 tkelly, I had a roll on ice chest that I filled with canned sodas and bottled water. I sealed it with duct tape and checked it as luggage. I leave only 30 minutes from the Long Beach terminal for our ship so we didn't have to worry about checking luggage on a plane. You might want to just pack an empty ice chest if you are flying and buy the sodas when you get to the port area. Kathy Cruise with Mom- Early 80th birthday celebration!! mohavemommy Posted June 11, 2004 #34 Share Posted June 11, 2004 Straight from Carnival's web site found here: Fountain Fun Card What is the Fountain Fun Card? We will offer to all guests the option to purchase a "Fountain Fun Card" which will allow them unlimited soft drinks for the duration of the cruise at a one time purchase price (including gratuities). The "Fountain Fun Card" can be purchased at any bar on board the ship. In all locations where beverage service is offered, guests may receive a glass of the soft drink of their choice - one glass will be served at a time and only to the guest whose name appears on the card. The card cannot be used through room service. NOTE: A 15% gratuity will automatically be added on at the time of purchase of the Fountain Fun Card. Cost for guests under 18 = $4 per day Cost for guests over 18 = $5.50 per day Free soft drinks in the dining room for children under the age of 12 is still in effect whether they have purchased a "Fountain Fun Card" or not. kajsb Posted June 11, 2004 #36 Share Posted June 11, 2004 Lilla, I am diet coke addict. I don't drink coffee so I start with my dc in the early morning. I probably drink about a six pack a day. Here is a picture of the ice chest we took. http://community.webshots.com/s/image9/8/62/0/150886200yzMvrV_ph.jpg I'll take it on every cruise now. But, you can always just take 12 packs of sodas and put them in the refrigator or find a large ice bucket. Kathy Cruise with Mom- Early 80th birthday celebration!! VitSea4me Posted June 11, 2004 #37 Share Posted June 11, 2004 I agree with Kathy (why am I always doing that...). On the Pride, the 7 days cost of a card was $38.50 + grat. I figured that to be about $7 per day. Even though I'm a coke-aholic, experience has taught me that I can't [or want] to drink $7 per day in soda. Also, sometimes you want caffiene free and they may not always have it. Finally, we have also had the experience that the bar servers are not always happy to take their time for such a small amount. We highly recommend the OJ at breakfast although I have been known to have the "breakfast of champions" (coke & pizza )and the lemonade at lunch is outstanding. The fruit punch is also OK. We packed 12 20 oz. bottles in heavy duty freezer bags and distributed them throughout our luggage - both checked and carry on. Not one problem. It was a simple request to have the cabin steward remove all the items from the "honor bar", store them in a drawer, and utilize the refrigerator for them (and of course the wine and champagne that we had packed in small bubble wrap) Pukka (& Noodles) Pride 5/30/04 Nordic Prince 4/89 Imagination 1/98 Galaxy 6/99 (Married aboard ship) Regal Princess 9/02 Pride 5/04 (5th Anniversary of our "Trip"

I only drink 1 soda a day and it is a Diet Rite product. So I will bring mine on board and get Soda Cards for him and daughter.
