Okay folks, just got off the phone with Carnival. They said that on a 7 day cruise, thye would be holding 300.00 per person for the duration of the cruise. I asked if it was the same for children. They said that if you do not "activate" their sign and sail card for purchases then you would not have to put down the money for them. Hope this helps. Stacey

TomD,

They have to have a Sail & Sign card. This is also their ID on the ship, and the only way they can get on and off the ship in ports.

However, you can have the "purchasing" ability of their card turned off, so that no charges can be applied using that card. I would also recommend having those cards punched (either at the Purser's desk or the Casino cashier) so you can place them on a lanyard. More difficult for them to lose that way.

If any monies are left on your sign and sail card you will get a check on the last night it your cabin. You can then cash the check at the pursers desk. I have always used cash on my card. FOr the two of us we placed 600.00 on it and always got money back at the end.
