natvtxn Posted March 20, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 20, 2006 DD (she's 21) and I will be on Ecstacy 4/8-4/13. This is her first cruise and my second. Itinerary on Carnival.com shows being in Cozumel from 8AM-5PM. My docs show 9AM-10PM. Assuming the docs are correct, we would like to have some beach time for 3-4 hours and some shopping time. Since we are 2 femails alone, what would you seasoned Cozumel cruisers suggest? Taking a taxi to a beach? Rent car? I need to know the safest and best schedule for us to have. Second part of this is what to do in PDC? Again, carnival.com says we are going to Progreso, but docs say PDC. When we were in Cozumel in October (5 days before Wilma got there), we were in a large group and rented mopeds. Spent the day at the beach and then shopped for a bit before getting back on Elation. Thanks for all your help. I've learned mucho from this site!
caribbean dreams Posted March 21, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2006 DD (19) and i took a taxi to the beach and then shopping awhile, we even went down the back alleys to find a good mexican resturant that the locals hang out at and never at any point did we feel unsafe. I did hear of a couple that rented a car and the company tried to charge them for scarches and dings that were already on the car, also happend with a rented moped so beware. mrdood Posted March 21, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 21, 2006 First thing you need to do is call Carnival and get answers to what is going on, web site is ususally accurate, I know they made the changes to our cruise, your map shows playa, but the text is progresso. Call and get your ports and times. Ever since the hurricane damage to Cozumel Carnival ships have been staying to 6pm at the latest.
perkyblue Posted March 21, 2006 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2006 I went on a cruise with my mom when I was 21 too! We had no problem with taking a taxi.
