dotcruiser Posted June 12, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2004 Hi, We just booked on the Legend to Panama Canal. Out of Ft. Lauderdale. We live in Florida. We are not going till November 27,2004. Don't know if we can wait that long, but I guess we will... We have only been on 2 other cruises. (all Carnival) Best value. And we did Caribbean and Alaska, so why NOT Panama. I hear it's a different place to go. Only goes to 3 ports. (8 days) so you are on the ship longer, but think of it this way: more relaxing, most likely, spending less money (unless you are big time drinkers.....I can't help you there....ha ha) and enjoying time together in an elegant atmosphere. I hear the Legend is a beautiful ship. Hope to see you there. Let me know what you decide.
steveNcindy Posted June 12, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 12, 2004 Here is a link to our review of this cruise. We loved it - especially the snorkelling in Belize and Playa Bonita Beach in Costa Rica. I would recommend a Carnival excursion in Panama though as just setting off on your own there was unnerving for us. Another couple at our dinner table did the white water rafting in Costa Rica and loved it. The Legend is a great ship and the 8 day was just the right amount of time. If you have any other questions, let me know. fmrlkr Posted June 12, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted June 12, 2004 We too have been on two previous cruises, both on Carnival out of New Orleans. The Inspiration and the Conquest. We were considering a Panama Canal cruise and this one looked great although not called a Panama Canal cruise. Couldn't beat the price and because of a holiday falling during cruise I would only have to take 5 days vacation. However my travel agent, who book my two previous cruises, was not gung ho and suggested other Panama Canal cruises. Wasn't really sure why. We want to take the rail road trip in Colon. Other cruises with 2 more days have additional ports Cozumel and Grand Caymen. Have been twice and don't really care about these. Am still waiting to hear back from Travel Agent about prices but I am leaning toward this cruise.
dotcruiser Posted June 13, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 13, 2004 The one we are going on is the exotic western carribean. You are correct, not called Panama Canal. Seems Carnival has very limited cruises to canal. I think only 2. Mine and the one you are considering. I heard about the railroad excursion. Sounds great. My travel agent told me about shoretrips.com. Go online and check it out. You can book things ahead and pay much cheaper. Not with Carnival. It's reputable. They don't have anything for Panama but do have some things for Bealize. Good luck and let me know how you make out
jemingway Posted June 13, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 13, 2004 We have booked this same itinerary for 3/19/05. There are several choices for excursions to the Panama Canal. judyf Posted August 20, 2004 #8 Share Posted August 20, 2004 I'm also booked the legend cruise for 3/19/04. From what I read so far sounds like a nice cruise. I liked the different ports, it's why I booked this cruise. I went to Belize last April and did the river/ruins tour and we loved it looking forward to going back . pungo3 Posted August 20, 2004 #9 Share Posted August 20, 2004 We did this cruise in January of this year. It was fabulous. We did the coast to coast railroad in Panama and I can highly recommend it. The ship is beautiful and service was terrific. Have a great cruise.
