Juliah67 Posted June 12, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2004 I'm consumed with thoughts of my next cruise. I don't know when it will be, but we are thinking of W. Caribben from Port Canaveral. When is the off-season? I need to know when the prices are low. Thank you! Love, Juliah Glory Eastern 5/29/
CruiseFever Posted June 12, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2004 Try dang near any time that school is NOT out and you'll see a big difference in pricing. September and October are really good as well as January and Feburary In addtion, go to the cruise lines websites and get on their mailing lists for special deals. shirleygr Posted June 12, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 12, 2004 In addition to the above listed months, I have also found Dec, between Thanksgiving and Christmas to be an excellent time for low prices. Unfortunately for us, that is not the best time for me to get time off from work. Good Luck and Have Fun whenever that next cruise is! mayrashke Posted June 12, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 12, 2004 Hi Juliah, I agree with the other post'ers. Sept,Dec.(before Xmas) and right after Xmas holidays in January seem to be cheapest. We got a good bargain for our cruise(ISGuarantee for 4= US$1832).In January the weather should be nice too. (Not sure if you are allowed to say the price you paid;altho. I would not know why.) Knights on the Beach Posted June 12, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 12, 2004 I agree with all the above, but since September/October is peak hurricane season, that is often when you'll get the best deals. Two years ago, my husband & I paid a grand total of $377 each (including all taxes & port charges) for seven nights on RCI's Enchantment of the Seas. We booked six weeks before the cruise. Hard to pass up deals like that! Beth ~~~~~~~~~~~ Countdown to Glory Emerald Seas 6/86 Emerald Seas 11/87 S.S. drwestlake Posted June 12, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 12, 2004 Last year my husband and I made the mistake of taking our three kids with us on a cruise. We'll never be able to cruise alone again, they loved it! Now we have to cruise when ALL the dang kids are out of school. March, spring break will be our next. Has anyone heard of prices drops during this time period?
Travelitis Posted June 12, 2004 #7 Share Posted June 12, 2004 To find the dates for lowest rates, use expedia or orbitz. Select a cruise and click on the link that says something to the effect of "view all dates". I've found Oct. to be lower than Sept. for the most part. Expedia and Orbitz don't have the lowest rates for cruising, but they're a good resource in this instance. CruiseFever Posted June 12, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 12, 2004 Oh DrWestlake, your goose is cooked now! We've been trying to get away from those peak times and finally booked one alone without them in October this year and next (CC Partae Pirates). Cruise addiction seems to hit kids especially hard but what the heck, it could be crack? mayrashke Posted June 12, 2004 #9 Share Posted June 12, 2004 Juliah, The cruise we are taking is from Miami-that can not be too far for you to drive is it?(I see the price for our room category has gone up nearly $200 at the place we booked online.) We really like our itinerary and that it is a new ship!! Bye for now. Valor Jan.23/05(W.Caribb.)-we are all going and are very excited!!!!!!!!!!! Sophie Posted June 13, 2004 #10 Share Posted June 13, 2004 We cruise during the last week of November or the first week of December and always get a great deal. Added bonus is very little kids on board. This is how we can afford a balcony! Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. michelle319 Posted June 13, 2004 #11 Share Posted June 13, 2004 My last cruise was the second week of September (hurricane season and the kids are just back in school). We paid $247/pp (including port charges & taxes) for an oceanview on the Fascination. Granted, it was only a four-day but couldn't beat it for a long weekend! Gator Man Posted June 13, 2004 #12 Share Posted June 13, 2004 Juiah 67, Most everyone has given you very good advice, You have one major problem though, your husband is a school teacher and any time he is off will be high season for cruise prices. To get a really good cruise price,he will have to take a vacation during the school year, don't know if that is possible. If you check all the cruise prices for the different months , you will find this out. You seem to be as addicted as I was after my first cruise, and I still am 17 years later. There is no cure for it but a cruise. Good Luck.
jemingway Posted June 13, 2004 #13 Share Posted June 13, 2004 We're working on taking our kids out of school for an October cruise. The price is so good that they can "afford" to miss school. Gator Man Posted June 13, 2004 #14 Share Posted June 13, 2004 Jemingway. You are absolutely correct, am now working on raising my third set of kids, have taken them all on cruises during the school year, always got their work before hand, never had a problem. They learn much more on the cruise, than they ever would in class, just my opinion. Will keep spoiling kids as long as I can, hope that means I will still be doing it when I am ninety. jemingway Posted June 13, 2004 #15 Share Posted June 13, 2004 Gator, I agree totally. I thought I would get attacked over my opinion, but my kids can miss a little school and still do fine. footballmom Posted June 13, 2004 #17 Share Posted June 13, 2004 I'm not an expert, but while doing some research, I noticed that the week before major holidays is several hundred dollars cheaper than any week in the summer!! We're going the week before Thanksgiving and saving a bundle. Luckily, we can take the time off work then, etc. Can't wait to sail on the Conquest 11/

KellyJean Posted June 14, 2004 #23 Share Posted June 14, 2004 I have found that prices really start dropping the week after Labor Day week. As another example, this year, the week after Thanksgiving week is looking real good. I was trying to help a friend look for pricing for Thanksgiving week and am trying to convince her to wait until the next week and they can all save about $200 pp. Kelly My Cruise Pics: http://community.webshots.com/user/kfrancis5 Cruise Critic Partae Pirates Cruise Mariner of the Seas Reali-Tini Cruise 10/16/05 Sovereign of the Seas, Cabin #4057 - 9/21/03 Brilliance of the Seas, Cabin #8670 - 11/09/2002 Paradise, Cabin E194 - 09/01/2001 Atlantic, 12/1991
