Beaches Closest To Cruise Ship

Marycherry43, I'll be going to Nassau next week and I've been reading the Bahamas board daily for any information I can find. While I don't personally know the answer to your question, I did a search for 'Nassau Beaches' and quite a few threads came up. Here's one that might answer your question for you in case nobody gets back to you. :) http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=158372&highlight=beaches+Nassau

Hi, does anyone know the closest beach to the cruise ships in Nassau and is it in walking distance or do we need to take a cab? Thank you@[/quote

Cable Beach is a long walk or a shot cab ride from the pier. Here is a description from Fromers.

"Cable Beach (New Providence Island): The glittering shoreline of Cable Beach has easy access to shops, casinos, restaurants, watersports, and bars. It's a sandy 6.5km-long (4-mile) long strip, with a great array of facilities and activities."

Here is a link to Fromers with a description of all the Public Beaches of Nassau.

There's a public beach just outside of town if you don't need the hotel amenities. They rent chaise lounges, and theres a vendor selling hot dogs and sodas on the promenade. It's a bit rocky, but the water is beautiful.

Just walk around the front of the British Colonial Hilton and follow the roadway around to the beachfront. It's about a 15 minute walk from the dock. You can stroll along the wharf, or shop on Bay Street along the way.

Beside this beach.. Cable Beach is the easiest beach with amenities to get to. Take a cab, or the #10 jitney from downtown to the Wyndham or Nassau Beach Hotel.
