TomMitford Posted May 13 #1 Share Posted May 13 We're looking at a lengthy expedition cruise through Antarctica on Le Commandant Charcot. The only potential hitch? My partner is vegan. I'd love to hear any experiences anyone may have had with vegan food during this kind of Poignant cruise. He doesn't need haute cuisine but he also doesn't want to starve.
Rare AussieBoyTX Posted May 13 #2 Share Posted May 13 Ponant is very good with providing vegetarian menu options and you can see that by checking out any of the numerous menus provided here. Vegan — whew. There are some dishes that are labeled vegetarian and are probably vegan, but I am not aware of the behind-the-scenes process. I think the kitchen would make every effort to make sure your partner didn’t starve… How long is lengthy? By the end of the second week, I would expect predominantly root and canned vegetables. Here are veg items from a menu: Mille-feuilles de betterave, fromage de chrèvre, pommes vertes Beetroot mille-feuilles, goats cheese, green apple Aubergine, poivrons, tapenade, pignons de pin et ail Eggplant, bell peppers, tapenade, pine nuts and garlic Risotto de betterave et vin rouge, céleri-rave rôti, épinards Beetroot and red wine risotto, roasted celeriac, spinach
TomMitford Posted May 14 Author #3 Share Posted May 14 In this case, "lengthy" is 28 days (from Ushuaia to Hobart, Tasmania, in early 2026). So a long time. Thanks very much for your response!
