June 23 '06 Mediterranean on Galaxy?

Who else will be on this ship? I could not find a thread (although I know there must be one.) We are considering this cruise for our honeymoon. My DF is nervous - he's never been on a cruise and doesn't know what to expect. I've been on Celebrity and RCCL caribbean cruises and loved them. Just wondering what the demographics on this ship might be: International or mostly American or Italian? Lots of kids? Older/Younger crowd or Mixed? How about smoking - we are sensitive to it - will there be too much onboard a Med cruise? (I know there will be on land.) I know it would be great - I'm trying to convince him it will be a fun mix of people!

 

Any other advice while considering this (or any) Med Cruise for our honeymoon?

I am on that cruise with my wife and children, age range 16 - 21. Since you said honeymoon I imagine we are somewhat older than you. I can't really answer your questions as far as the passengers or atmosphere on board, but from what I have read here and elsewhere I am sure it is going to be a great crusie. We sailed on the Galaxy last summer on a 10-day Med cruise. There was a wide variety of passengers. Many families - not many young children, but many teens. Many young couples who were likely honeymooners. And many older people. Europe appeals to all ages. :)

 

From what we could tell, passengers were predominately American and Canadian. Our tablemates happened to be Australian, and there were a few Europeans. But mostly American.

 

I don't remember smoking to be a problem. Smoking is allowed in some areas of the bars. The casino was probably the worst. No smoking in the dining room or the show lounge. Overall, there was no more smoking than what I have encountered on Caribbean cruises.

 

If you are considering it for a honeymoon, I will say that it was an active cruise - all those spectacular ports to explore. We came back at the end of every port day tired and with tired feet! It was quite different from a kick-back-at-the-beach Caribbean vacation. But it was a memorable cruise. If you are looking for a honeymoon with lots of sightseeing in beautiful places, this would be a great choice.
