CruiseFever Posted June 19, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 19, 2004 We have and we'll be staying there on the third and fourth of July for post cruise. Its a fine hotel. We get it through hotwire with help from biddingfun.com where Amber gives you a good idea of how to bid. You could get it for less on Priceline but it's more of a risk that you won't. We like it because its right across A1A, the main drag, from the beach...easy walk there. Additionally there's plenty of places to eat, shop or just get an ice cream cone and walk around right there. A short taxi ride or really long walk is the Beach Place with Lulus Bait Shack and other popular restaurants. In the hotel, if you stay there, go for breakfast in the coffee shop, they have blueberry pancakes that are to die for...if you like pancakes that is. It's by no means a new hotel. Originally it was the Hyatt Pier 66, a premier property, until they built their sprawling complex which is now considered one of THE places to stay...but with a premium price. I think the 3 star rating for the Holiday Inn pushes the envelope some and is kind of a stretch but its a fine hotel with everything you need. Surprisingly there's a concierge desk that's manned on specific hours during the day that is quite good. They can arrange Everglades tours or even day cruises to places for you We like the place...not fancy but a good hotel Happy Cruising Chris Chris@LifeIsCruising.com www.LifeIsCruising.com Next up: Caribbean Princess 06/26/04 Star Princess 10/24/04 Diamond Princess 12/22/04 Sapphire Princess June '05 Caribbean Princess 09/17/05 Carnival Valor 10/30/
luv2cruise123 Posted June 19, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted June 19, 2004 Thanks, Kris!Just the kind of info I was looking for - booked this through Priceline for precruise stay. Do you remember how much a taxi was from airport to this property and/or to cruise ship- terminal? Debbie in MS
CruiseFever Posted June 19, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 19, 2004 We used Castro's Limousine Service, they drive Ford Excursions which held all our luggage and the four of us just fine (954-593-9052- Ask for Will) It was $8 per person from the airport to the hotel then $6 per person to the port.
