Crete botanical gardens

We are thinking of visiting the botanical gardens on our port day in Crete. Has anyone any advice on getting there on your own instead of booking an excursion via the cruise line. Thanks

A good start would be telling folks at which Crete port your ship will dock. The answer could be anywhere from a reasonably short taxi ride to completely impractical. It is a big island with 3 ports.

It states on our itinerary that our port is Chania (Souda)

You could look at their website for directions as most attractions will have a "how to get here" or "how to find us" section.
