pookeycat Posted March 31, 2006 #1 Share Posted March 31, 2006 I have been doing some searching for a gold panning experience for when we are in Alaska. This is someting that DF really would like to do (even if it is just one of the touristy kind of thing, not one of the "authentic" experiences.) We were considering the Salmon Bake/Gold Rush Trail Camp in Skagway, but with out Heli tour already scheduled with Temsco, time constraints do not allow us to do it. Does anyone have any recommendations? we will be visiting Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway and ISP. Thanks!!
OutdoorsPro Posted March 31, 2006 #2 Share Posted March 31, 2006 Go panning in Juneau. It's a quick trip and it's in the creek where gold was actually discovered (and is still found, usually after high-water events). You'll probably encounter local hobbyists while there. It's a very pretty area as well.
krewzin Posted March 31, 2006 #3 Share Posted March 31, 2006 We were thinking about trying this in Skagway (perhaps the same one you mentioned) during our free time: http://www.klondikegolddredge.com/
