Gaido's in Galveston

Recommended Posts

This is a great inexpensive hotel. The rooms were clean, but very basic. I don't know that I would want to spend several nights/days there, but for basically 8 hours of sleep it was fine. We arrived at 1:00 a.m. and left by 10:00 the next morning. They let us leave the car there while on the cruise at no cost.

Taxi to the pier was about $10 each way - $20 is much cheaper than parking at the pier and quite frankly it was nice to not have to walk to the lots to find our car. The taxis were lined up right there, loaded our luggage and then unloaded it into our car at the hotel.

We paid $55 for the room though I think their site says $59. We did a lower level room with no beach veiw since we'd only be there overnight. I'd also read here some place that if you get ocean view on the lower level you wouldn't be able to see the ocean for the cars parked right outside anyway. I'd say that is right.

They also had tons of pastry type things and other stuff for the free breakfast.

It isn't 5 star, but it is the best $55 hotel I've ever stayed at.
