April Fools Cruise - Live and Almost Live From Liberty April 1

Recommended Posts

For anyone interested, you can do an ebay search for Z's camera model and get your own just like his! Then you can take pictures just as clear. By the way, what are you using for your underwater shots? Same camera? What do you have it in to keep it from getting wet and drowning?

Just an FYI... Both of my cameras are discontinued, so if you see on ebay they are used or refurbished... I have the Canon waterproof housings for both. S1-IS and S230. The SI-IS housing leaked the other day so I am using the ancient s230 for today's water shots and for the rest of the trip. S1-IS will continue to be used for most above water shots or until it stops working - I think I may have gotten lucky - we shall see!

Upon careful inspection of the housing for the S1-IS I found a small crack in the case, which I guess was good enough.

Z,

Are you using a sniffer program for available wireless connections in port or just hitting hotel hotspots near enough to the port?

Tell Gatorclaw to make sure he gets his video finished and posted before we board Liberty on tax day. Better yet, tell him we're all looking forward to it and we'd really like to see it and we all said PLEASE! ;)

Keep the pictures coming please, you're making these last few days of waiting go by so much easier! :)

Paying out the wazoo right now. Cell phone modem in ports that are sprint friendly.

Gatorclaw was on tour today - I doubt video will be ready for at least a few weeks.

I wonder if any of the ports are Verizon-friendly. I have a Verizon aircard which I will gladly use when at ports which will let me. :) I am taking my laptop, regardless of internet access, since that way I will be able to move any pictures/video taken with my camcorder over to make room for more pictures/video. :)

Is there a website for those waterproof housings? Or, do you know where I might be able to get a waterproof housing for my JVC camcorder? It's not really all that big, but it *is* a camcorder, so it's shaped like a camcorder. :)

Sorry about the double post too...

amazing pictures. Thanks you again for the updates. My cruise is so far off but the stories and the pictures help ease the pain a little ( for now at least). I bet the closer I get to my trip the harder it will become.

Debbie I'm jealous only 2 more days for you. Have a wonderful trip, will be looking forward to your review. Will you do any updating on the ship or will we have to wait for your return?

Lots of them. Camcorder housings usually aren't cheap. Perhaps Ewa-Marine might have a bag type generic housing. Try google for WATERPROOF CASE {camera make and model}.

>I just love your pictures. I'm hoping our weather is as good as yours.

>

>Weather on the web doesn't look favorable.

Up until the time we left, I think the forecast was for a 60% chance of rain the first few days and we only got rain once, briefly.

>Food

Fish and Chips only had oysters the first couple of days of the cruise - what's up with that? Note to self - on future cruises on Conquest class ships, OD on oysters the first day in case they run out.

>Antigua

In Antigua - 4 "young ladies" were not back on ship at sailing time. Carnival went above and beyond what was necessary (possibly there were no flights from Antigua that would let them catch the ship before Fort Lauderdale?). Anyway, Carnival checked with the local hospitals and police to see if either had them and waited and waited. Finally gave the ten minute countdown and if they weren't back at the ship, oh well. They notified the port agent and also, somehow came up with their papers and passports and gave them to the port agent as well.

Lots of people were thinking the worst, when 4 females, mostly not young showed up. The CD was telling them over the PA system to hurry, and most of the ship was yelling RUN. The 4 mostly waddled back to the ship as if it was no big deal. Lots of people on the ship thought they should be kept in boat jail for the remaining ports. Not sure what, if anything, happened to them.

>Tortola

A more serious incident...

After pulling away from the dock, it was announced that a passenger was serioulsy ill, and that the ship's doctor thought it was better if they were taking off the ship and to a local hospital, so we pulled back up to the dock. A passenger was taken off the ship in a wheelchair but then walked from the wheelchair to the ambulance, so I dunno ??

Last full sea day here - need to Carpe Deck Chair! Or maybe a galley tour - think they give away free samples ?

Your pictures of the baths are amazing. We plan to go there but were thinking of doing it ourselves by taking the ferry. What were your thoughts on Patouche. I'm assuming you did the half day virgin gorda and the baths. What did it cost? Can you see any advantages/disadvantages of doing the baths on your own?

Update: I looked on their website and they don't advertise the half day on Thursdays...

Thanks!

Patouche was $50pp on a charter. They have several boats available. I wouldn't do the ferry or the ship tour - more on that when I return - remind me if I forget.

A lazy sea today. Galley tour, casino tour (got my 1000 points!), and miscellaneous.
