funship dollars

Has anyone ever bought the funship dollars to use as shipboard credit with less than a week to go before your cruise? I was going to buy some today to use for our cruise this weekend but then noticed that the gifts site said you had to buy gifts over a week prior to sailing. Any help or or info would be greatly appreciated.

Call and place the money onto your account instead- if you are leaving within 7 days--sorry you may be outta luck. But sometimes they take orders up til 3 days before. It wont hurt to try.

yes, I've done it twice last year... And will do it again this month.... What you do is, buy them online from the carnival site 4 FULL BUSINESS DAYS BEFORE your cruise.... You'll get a email receipt immediately, and a email following that the next day sayin they'll apply it as a shipboard credit. I bought $1000.00 worth, and i called up carnival the early morning of my cruise, and they said yes, it is on your sign and sail card already, never a problem! :)

Thanks! I have talked to 2 different people at Carnival today who both said that buying the funship dollars or just putting cash on your account must be done 2 FULL WEEKS before sailing. I have my husband calling them right now to see if he can get a different answer. It looks like we will just have to stand in line once we board.

You can put Funship Dollars on your s&s account online through the gift department of Carnival.com. When you fill in your address make sure you put your booking number in the first line of the address line then fill the rest as normal. I have done it 3 or 4 times in the last week and it works every time. You will get an email from Carnival like this:

Greetings,

Your request has been processed. It will be setup as a shipboard credit directly onboard for the guests below on the Holiday 4/15/06. If you have any questions regarding your gift certificate order, please contact Special programs at 1-800-906-7603. Thank you for choosing Carnival.

Hope this helps, Mark

mls1, there is the first line with the "*" next to it, then there is another address line below that.... so you put your booking number on the first line, and your address on the second line ?

But the question was how soon can you do this prior to your cruise, using your way.

For example, you sail on the 15th, can you purchase online funship dollars say about the 11th ?

It is the line you would put your street name on. It should look like this

john doe

5h6h05

anytown, Ca

zipcode

I was told by a PVP that you can do it online up to 3 full days before cruise. I would not cut it that close though. I did all mine about 8-10 days before just to be safe.

What a great idea, I have cruised lots and never thought of doing this. But here is a question, I am cruising with my mom this trip can we both have our own fun ship dollars and how would I do that online.......I assume once I do it it is charged directly to my cc...so I should wait until a few days before?

I buy one $50.00 funship dollar each pay. Will do so til I cruise in September. You take the $$ to the pursers desk and turn them onto your cabin credit.

OR

you can call the 1-800 -522-7648 to place an order over the phone.

and ask to place XX amount of dollars on your account and XX onto your moms account. Makes carrying a bunch of money while traveling simple and easy.

If you are waiting for funship $$ to be delivered it takes 7-10 days to get them

It's the best thing since sliced bread ;)

I always have the credit go directly onto my sail and sign card to avoid waiting online at the pursers desk. If you do this make sure you keep track of your confirmation number...just in case.

The phone number is 800-906-7603. I think you have to call between the hours of 9am and 5 pm.

  • 5 months later...

I am booked on the sensation 9/24, on 9/1 I purchased $100 in funship dollars online and used my booking #. I called gift services the next morning to confirm that I had done this correctly. They took my booking # and said there would be no problem applying this directly to my account. Today I received a $100 funship dollar certificate in the mail, instead of it being applied to my S&S account. I cruise in 9 days and the back of the certificate says you need to mail it at least 15 days out to get obc. is there anyway to get this applied at the time of boarding?

I don't think I fully understand this principle. How do you get your money? I would like to use something where I can just go and get my money when I'm on the ship to use in the casino without paying the 3% fee. If it's applied to my s and s account and I go to the casino to get money I have to pay the 3% fee, right?

From what I hear you can just go to the purser's desk and have it applied to your account.

Yes, you will have to bring the certificate with you onboard and bring to the pursers desk. If you called in directly to place your order it would have been applied directly to your s&s.

The only way for you to get cash to use in the casino is to go to the ATM but that will also charge a fee. Or just bring extra cash with you. The funship dollars has nothing to do with casino money. It would be cool if you can purchase chips ahead of time

Actually, you can use Funship dollars that have been applied to your S&S account in the casino, but there is a 3% fee charged. :)
