nhrenee Posted April 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2006 :D We're flying into FLL and staying the night at a FLL airport hotel. We need a van to take us from our hotel to the Port of Miami the next morning. Any recommendations? TIA
bobbie0253 Posted April 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2006 We are a family of six. We sail in 30 days. We booked the Sleep Inn and Suites in FLL and Larry's Limo for transportation. The limo was $220 round trip including tip. Not a bad deal. We used them once before and had no problems. Where are you staying pre-cruise? Bobbie FYI a taxi from FLL to MIA cost us $75 for two people and from MIA to FLL cost us $60.

nhrenee Posted April 7, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted April 7, 2006 Thanks for the recommendations. We're staying at the La Quinta Inn and Suites, about 5 miles from the airport. Our friends are in a hotel about 1/2 mile away. Bobbie: How big was your limo? I assumed FL limo only picked up from FLL airport but I'll call them and find out. springtxbill Posted April 7, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 7, 2006 Check with your hotel as they may have a contact they recommend. Did this a couple of years ago and it was good.

KelJ Posted April 7, 2006 #7 Share Posted April 7, 2006 We are booked with Larry's Limos to take six of us (plus luggage!) one way from our Fort Lauderdale hotel to the Miami Pier. The cost is $120 including tip. They told us it would be a stretch limo.
bobbie0253 Posted April 7, 2006 #8 Share Posted April 7, 2006 When we used them (Larry's Limo) before there were only four of us. It was HUGE. I'll let you know how big it feels with six in a month when we cruise. :) They pick up at hotels and the airports. I do have pictures of the limo from the previous cruise...... http://public.fotki.com/bobbie0253/coming_soonmajesty/dsc_2231.html http://public.fotki.com/bobbie0253/coming_soonmajesty/dsc_2232.html http://public.fotki.com/bobbie0253/coming_soonmajesty/dsc_2240.html
Theotur Posted April 7, 2006 #9 Share Posted April 7, 2006 Hi: I've been researching this as well for our November Cruise, but it will be from the airport to the cruise port. I don't think there would be a problem with a hotel pick up. Here is the information that I have come up with so far. There are several limo companies that one we could use based on a Google Search, but the issue is the number of passengers and more importantly, the luggage. I checked with the cruise line (RCCL) , and one way transportation (airport - criuse port) on the bus is $25 per person, $50 round trip. Based on these parameters and 6 passemgers , I tried to find transportation at a maximum of $150 one way. Below are websites to the company's that I would be leaning towards: http://fortlauderdale-airportshuttle.com. They have a fleet of vehicles, more than likely a Mercedes Sprinter Van with plenty of luggage space. Seating is for 10, but this may or may not be a private van depending on if someone else is arriving at or near your arrival time. Also, there could be a wait of up to 30 minutes. All in cost (driver tip etc...) is $21.60 per person one way, or $129.60, a savings of $30 over the cruise ships. The only negative is possibly having to wait. http://www.fortlauderdaletaxivan.com. This would be a private van, probably 10 passenger or more, but possibly shared if they happen to have someone else going the same way, same time. Cost is $15 per person plus gratuity (probably 20%) so cost would be +/- $108, a savings of $42 over the cruise ship. http://www.alianzatransportation.com. I found them from a different post on this message board. Their costs are also $15 per person. They did not mention a gratuity, but assume that it is the same with a total cost of $108. This would be a private van. This is just what I have found. I've not used any of these company's, so I can't speak for service / reliability etc.... bobbie0253 Posted April 7, 2006 #10 Share Posted April 7, 2006 I guess I got a good deal. The limo including tip is $220 round trip. That's $18 a person each way for a private car. :)
Ms_Kalamity Posted April 7, 2006 #11 Share Posted April 7, 2006 Check with your hotel. Some hotels have a free shuttle service to/from the airport, and to/from the cruise terminal.
bobbie0253 Posted April 7, 2006 #12 Share Posted April 7, 2006 Most hotels near the ports offer shuttles. These hotels are in Fort Lauderdale and the ship is in Miami. In this case the hotels are about 30-45 minutes away depending on traffic. I have yet to see one offer a shuttle that far. It would be nice though ;)
jeannejj Posted April 8, 2006 #13 Share Posted April 8, 2006 I booked with Infinity-Transportation. They have all different size vehicles from town car to stretch limos to vans. Gave us a good price. We got a stretch limo for 5 of us. From Ft. Lauderdale hotel to Port of Miami was approximately $110. That includes gratuity. They give quotes.
