Do they save some excursion openings for the ship?

If the excursion is listed on carnival.com as a shore excursion, but doesn't show up when you log in and try to book the shore excursion, it could be that Carnival hasn't "firmed up" the excursion with their vendor. That happened to us - when we called Carnival to find out why the excursion wasn't available to book, that's what we were told - Carnival was still working out the details with the vendor. About a week later, the excursion was there, and we booked it.

You might want to give them a call to see if that's the case...

The excursion we really wanted to do at Half Moon Cay is gone from the Carnival website, so I assume it is full. Do they save some openings for people to book on the ship, or are we out of luck?

Some of the excursions are capacity limited and yes, they will sell out weeks before the ship sails...

...always possible to have cancellations so do check on board, they may have a wait list.

It is worth a shot to at least keep our eyes on the website and try when we get there.

Yes, I would keep checking the website at least twice a day then as soon as you board head to the excursion desk, thats why It pays to board around 11:30am

We tried and tried to book the Bio Bay tour in Puerto Rico, but couldn't. We called Carnival, etc. and finally ended up booking through a private vendor. When we got on board, the trip we were trying to book was available at the excursion desk. Head straight there...it may or may not be open...but it is worth a shot.
