Any info on Vessup Bay and/or Hull Bay Beaches?

Frommers Virgin Islands guide lists Vessup Bay and Hull Bay beaches as two beaches that are not well known or crowded.

Has anyone been to either and know if that's true (the not crowded part) and if the sand/sun/snorkeling is good?

Thanks for any help.

Hull Bay is on the" North" side of the Island, it is not a sandy beach in the generaly understood term, some sand lots of rocks. Mainly used by local folks who can sometimes surf well beyond the beach area. Not recomended (by me) for tourists. Vessup Bay is full of moored boats, the sand is fine, but the water is not good for snorkeling. Again mainly used by local folks for Sunday picnics etc.It can be sort of "dirty (the water there) due to boat traffic. It is a very busy bay across from the ferry dock at Red Hook and American Yacht Harbor. We have many other pretty beaches with good access that I would pick for a "Day at the Beach". Try Coki, Saphire, or Magens ( no real snorkeling here). All three have food available, bathrooms etc. and easy access to cabs. Hull and Vessup do not. The road to Vessup is not cab friendly and many refuse to go down it for good reason.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your day here.:)
