My Observation

We have been on 11 cruises so I say this with some background.....I would book a tour on Belize if you want to see something...we left the shopping area out the iron fenced gates and to be honest with you, neither one of us felt totally safe....The tour operators outside of the fence were aggressive and there were alot of men just hanging around on sides of the streets(sidewalks are nonexistant) We walked for about a half hour and went back..If were to do this over we would have booked a tour either on the ship or at the pier when you ferry in....It's my opinion from my experience the week of 4/1/06....happy cruising..

Good advice about arranging a tour.

I walked to the post office to mail a postcard and the people in the street were very helpful. On the way back, they asked me if I found it ok.

People did ask me to buy things, but no one was aggressive when I said no thank you.

I've had worse experiences with the vendors on the tenders.
