NCL Star Express Departure - San Pedro

Has anyone used the walk off with your luggage express departure from the Star?

I am trying to figure out what time to plan on for our return flight out of LAX.

The ship tipically gets in a 7am, but normally departation doesn't start until 8am. Now if you are arriving during the week days, you will need to plan for a longer trip to the airport due to traffic. A lot will also depend on what airport you are using. At LAX like United airlines, last time it took us over an hour in line at the airport to get thru security. Alaska airlines this last February took 10 minutes.

One other thing is how many ships are arriving in port the day you are coming in. If there are 3 ships like last time we left in February. Customs took a extra time. The customs agents were split between the 3 ships.

 

Also how are you getting to the airport? cab, bus, etc. I really wouldn't plan anything prior to 12:00.

We are arriving on a Thursday so we should be the only ship.

Only one suitcase.

LAX on Southwest.

I thought we would take a cab. It would be faster.

Bottom line, do I dare book a 11:45 am flight?

I wouldn't.

I wouldn't book a flight earlier than 1 pm.

My general rule of thumb is 4 hours after passengers are allowed off the ship minimum, and that would be noon.

When we got into port in Feb there was a very large line waiting for cabs to leave. Not many cabs for the number of people trying to leave early.

Best is anything after 1pm. Southwest is a very crowded terminal.:)

We tried the whole early disembarkation thing, and it turned into a bit of a fight where people pushed their way to the front of the line.

We ended up getting off very very early, and had no trouble getting a cab.

However I would say an 11-12 am departure would be risky.
