Hi Everyone,

I just got a call from NCL....it seems NCL has started a personal cruise specialist program. I was told they will help with anything to make your cruise better.

Does anyone else know about this program? Does anyone else know whats it about? Hmmm

Cosmopolitan,

Booked on the Spirit, leaving Nov. 9th. I believe I am in a BC category, mid-ship, # 10090. I do love sailing on NCL. :D

I am hoping to get a Meet and Mingle together, went to one last Nov. on the Dawn. Can anyone give me info on how to go about doing this? It maybe to early yet, but good to know what needs to be done.

Thanks to both of you for replying.

Linda

I received a phone call from my personal cruise specialist the other day, I thought they were calling to tell me I won the apprentice cruise contest. He was very nice and explained that they are offering this service to lattitudes members exclusively and that I would have his personal extension to call, or I could email him with any questions or concerns about my next cruise. He followed up the phone call with a letter and his business cards.

This is from his letter: I specialize in outstanding Customer Service and added travel needs for our valued past guests and Lattitudes members (aren't these the same?) Not only can I assist you in booking your future cruises, but I can also handle air, hotel and transfer needs related to your cruise. You have the option now of calling my direct number instead of the next available operator when dialing our Reservations number. It's just another way we at Norwegian Cruise Lines wants you to know we value your continued patronage.

The letter goes on to give his schedule an contact information and then it says...You may also share my contact information with your family and friends. (Looking for more business).

I am upset:( How come I don't get a personal cruise consultant:rolleyes:

I used to have the extension of an agent I liked to work with she moved on. It can be painful with the random agent handling your booking when you call in. The quality can as we all know vary from agent to agent.

Sounds like a great idea.

Hey NCL where is my email:cool:

After reading these posts, I called NCL. My hubby and I are both Latitudes Members and are booked on the Spirit 5/14. We did not receive a call or a letter.

The Latitudes rep said that the Peronal Cruise Specialist is basically a sales rep, and that because I booked through a TA I would not be contacted.

Said there is a Latitudes Consultant on board every ship and I could call in to the Latitudes desk for any special help before sailing. Said she checked with her manager and I wasn't missing out on anythign.

Is there anyone else who was contacted that booked through a TA?

Thanks,

Linda

No reason to call if you book thru a TA - they are as pointed out in place to help book direct with NCL. Their job is to increase revenue not add cost to bookings they have already paid a TA to handle.

I, too, received a call from NCL assigning a personal cruise consultant about a month ago. She has been terrific. I saw a promotion on the Pride of America for a balcony including air for a great price. I searched NCL online and couldn't find it. Decided to give her a call. She called back the next day with exactly what I wanted at the price I was looking for with a cabin assignment. So far, so good. I have always booked directly with NCL so that's probably why I was offered this service.

Carnival has something similar to this. They are called "personal vacation planners". Ours was a huge help to us when preparing for our last cruise. Its great to have one person you can contact with any questions or problems, instead of having to re-explain your situation to a new person every time you call. Our PVP called the day prior to our departure to see if we had any last minute questions, and to wish us a bon voyage. The capper was when he called a week after we got back to see how our cruise went. We were very impressed!!

Hope this works for NCL too. Should help with some of their customer service issues.

I booked our upcoming Dawn cruise thru NCL direct and three days later I received a call from my "personal consultant". She has been wonderful and has answered all of my questions( 1st time cruiser) and given me lots of tips. If this is typical of NCL, I couldn't be happier !

  • 2 weeks later...

Just got a call today from our "NCL Personal Cruise Consultant" today - they were unaware that we have two pending cruises with NCL. However, I embrace the opportunity to only talk with one person from this time forward.

I got a call as well yesterday. I called back because I thought, as many of us did, that I won a free cruise because of the Apprentice Contest. Low and behold, it was because I have cruised with NCL for the past couple of years. That's kind of cool, although I always book with a particular agent, online. Can you say "reach out and touch someone?":)

Looks like we should get a dicounted price to use NCL. They are keeping their own 15% sales commision.

I have been booking directly with NCL for the last 4 cruises, so that part didn't really matter. Doesn't matter to me if the cruise line gives the 15% to a TA or if they keep it...it doesn't affect my price in the end.

Since I originally posted this I have emailed my PCC and he responded to my request for a price quote within an hour and reserved a cabin for me. When I questioned the price on the quote I called him and got directly through to him on his phone extension....imagine that, no waiting to talk to anyone at NCL (I was shocked). The computer wasn't coming up with the price I had found for the cabin, so I pointed out where I was getting the price and he told me he would go talk to a superior to see how they could get me the price and override the computer. He hung up with me, so I wouldn't be waiting on hold. He called me back twice in the next hour with updates and eventually called me when they solved the problem and I got the price I was looking for. This happened this past Wednesday when they were quite busy with the one day sale and I told the PCC that he could just call me back the next day that it wasn't anything that needed to be handled that day... He immediately said that I was his priority and that he wanted to get to the bottom of the situation, and he did.

As far as I can see the PCC offers the benefits of having an independent TA, but you are keeping control over your own booking.

When my wife and I got home from the April 2 to 9 sailing on the Spirit, she called Carnival to see what kind of cruises they had and had requested several of their tour books. Someone from Carnival has called and left three messages on our answering machine since then telling us that they were our person representative and that they really wanted to talk to us about their cruises. I have also received a postcard from this representative. In the meantime they haven't sent any tour books. When I had requested a tour book from NCL I received it within two weeks. Thats why I told my wife we are better off staying with NCL because we are Latitudes members and because they have a lot more cruises going out of Manhattan. So apparently NCL isn't the only ones offering personal help. If only Carnival would honor our original request, which was for tourbooks, then they would really know how to help us.
