sanford5 Posted April 14, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2006 Our first Alaska cruise in June! We are traveling with our 15 and 19 year olds and have narrowed it down to kayaking or crab feed in Ketchikan. Any input would be greatly appreciated. JannyO Posted April 17, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 17, 2006 Hi, We did the crab feed 2 years ago, it was very interesting and it was a beautiful day. The crab feast was fantastic!! If your kids like crab they will like this. PS. Caught a picture of a bald eagle in flight during the boat ride. Jan
ejhall Posted April 18, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 18, 2006 My mother and I went on this excursion in Sept 04, and thoroughly enjoyed it! The boat ride was nice, they stopped for pictures of eagles and a bear! The talk about the crabs was informative, they pulled up a pot so we could see and handle the crabs. The atmosphere at the Lodge was wonderful and the crab delicious! All that said, if your teens are at all active I think they might get bored because it was a very tame excursion. Hope this helps! Bucky3 Posted April 18, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2006 Our then 12, now 16 year old granddaughter loved the excursion and the unlimited crab dinner. She would love to do that again. If you go, be sure to start a pyramid in the middle of your table using all the empty crab shells. Seems I remember a prize or a lot of hoopla for the table with the highest peak! It was a fun day.
