PRFIRE45 Posted April 14, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2006 Does anyone know whether NCL have fireworks on their 4th of July cruise. I will be on the Norwegian Dawn during the 4th of July and wewill be at sea and I am wondering if NCL has fireworks during the night. Has anyone cruised with NCL during the Independence holiday and can tell me whether they have any type of celebrations. Thanks for your reply's

Has anyone cruised with NCL during the Independence holiday and can tell me whether they have any type of celebrations. We were aboard the Pride of America last Independence Day, and we were very disappointed at the lack of celebration. Not only were there no fireworks (which we can understand due to fire danger), but there was very little celebration at all. Late in the evening they put on a "show" poolside that was only "quasi-patriotic". Given this was the maiden voyage of the first newbuilt U.S.-flagged ship in decades, we had hoped for more. Not to worry though, we made our own celebration. Bob wore his Uncle Sam top hat, we had flag pins, and carried our own flags. We also decorated our cabin door in red/white/blue bunting and flags. Do it yourself always works.
Hatsoff389 Posted April 15, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 15, 2006 if you're looking for fireworks on the 4th then make sure your not on a cruise for the 4th cause there is no way in hell they'll be setting them off in the middle of the ocean somewhere. Plumloco Posted April 15, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 15, 2006 Hi, My wife and I are on that cruise too departing 7/1 NYC. Are you two cruising alone? Is it your first cruise too? Have you gotten your cabin yet? We're in 9090. Maybe we can catch up during the trip. We're young mid-50's.
CruisinMK Posted April 15, 2006 #6 Share Posted April 15, 2006 We were aboard the Pride of America last Independence Day, and we were very disappointed at the lack of celebration. That is pretty sad! Pride of America has no pride of America!
electricron Posted April 15, 2006 #7 Share Posted April 15, 2006 I much rather be sailing on her than not. Look at the Star Princess, two months out of action. Fireworks are major fire hazards.

Ginamarie Posted April 15, 2006 #9 Share Posted April 15, 2006 The only cruiseline that has been doing fireworks at sea these days is Disney Cruiseline. Even they've been sporatic about it though, because of fire concerns.
CruisinMK Posted April 15, 2006 #10 Share Posted April 15, 2006 I would never expect fireworks from a ship because fire is by far the #1 source of tragedy for ships. But Pride of America should do something special for July 4th to show they have Pride of America. :)
