Any interest in a "Louisiana Reunion of past and future cruisers"?

The trave agency i use is very CCL oriented and has a great relationship with the carnival rep for this area.

They offer a tour of the ships in port about 3 or 4 times a year. TA knows that i can gather up a group of 10 or more at anytime. I always try to bring first timers so that she can build up her cleintel.

The tours are always on Sundays and run from 11AM to 1:30 PM. You are taken aboard the ship after passing through SECURITY and you are divided into groups of 20 or more. There are usually 100 or more people on these tours. You get a complete tour of all the type of cabins they offer if they have been checked out of and cleaned. After viewing all the different types you are than taken to the Spa, Lido Deck , Gym , Dining Room, Casino , Promenade Shopping area and the Supper Club if there is one.

You are than brought into the dance lounge at the rear (aft) of the ship and treated to a nice meal and drinks. They don't skip on the drinks. The CCL rep gives you a little talk on what CCL has to offer. The TA talks about upcoming events she has planned .

If you would like to see about going on one e-mail me at authemed @ bellsouth.net.PLEASE only if you are serious about doing this. Please put tour in subject matter.

I'll give you her agency and phone number so that you can check into the next one.

We also did a tour of the Norwegian Dream back in Nov. 2003 . The same tour as CCL offers but you are treated to a sit down dining room experience.

Dasa; Are you using a local TA? Sounds like a good deal. Yes,we are going on the first Sensation cruise out of NOLA.Did I read that right? 700 booked? Holy chit mon! We have about 200 going from these boards. I know of a group going from the Gulfport/Biloxi area also, some sort of radio DJ deal.

Hey Skylights; Welcome to the group!

Welcome all new to this topic.

I just went to selucrey's web site. Now if you want to see how to party, the website will be a party animal 101 on how it's done.

LOL! That's just the G-rated stuff!:D Seriously, we do tend to have a good time and rarely need an excuse to party.Need to update the site though.

DASA, I will email you for more info to contact your TA. Thanks!

Selucrey, thank you for the welcome, I peeked at some of your mardi gras pics, brought back some fond memories of when I was hooked on Mardi Gras too. I use to belong to one of the riding groups (Cajun Indians) before I moved across the lake. We'd ride in sevearl parades each year. In the beginning it was LARGE fun, by the end of the second year it was more expensive than it was fun, and I dropped out, now I just ride in small local parades on the north shore. That is still LARGE amounts of fun ;)

On to cruising ............ it's a done deal now, not only am I cruising on July 17th on the Holiday, but now I'll be cruising Thankksgiving on the Sensation too. Oh what fun!

have a happy day !

selucrey ,

That would be great. Have some folks around here that would be interested in going also. Just didn't know a tour of this type was available. Sent a message to my TA in NO and they said that 'occasionally' they are available so apparently some TA's have more clout than others.

Trying to get hold of DASA for more info so will have to wait until we can find out more.

Trying to get T/A to give me a definite date. As soon as i know i'll let you guys know.

Would love to meet fellow cruisers from our great state.

Dan the Hercules Fishing rodeo is being held at the airbase this year. They are looking for groups to have booths to sell food or crafts. If the SOPHISTACATS are interested contact a board member with the Krewe. Also there will be a jambalaya cook off.

The club is trying to bring back the old time fall festivals we use to have in the area along with the rodeo. Plus going down to CoCODrie was getting to be a bit much. There will also be a freshwater division this year along with the saltwater.

Ron put a little pressure on your T/A about setting you up with a tour. They should be more than happy to help out Tiger fan unless they are WAVE fans like me . ROLL WAVE and GEAUX TIGERS.

DASA,

When we emailed the TA below is the response we got but we'll keep pushing.

"Every once in a great while, the cruise line will clear us to take passengers onboard. Our District Sales Manager calls when it is our turn. If I get a call, I'll let you know! You'll be first on my list, I promise."

It would be great to get together with a bunch of fellow LA cruisers. There's a lot of us taking cruises but seems at different times. Maybe a gathering once a year on land might work also.

Not a Tulane basher. I went to Tulane for one year. Glad to see last year that the Tulane administration got a dose of common sense and didn't drop the football program.

DASA; A lot of our members are Hercules members also so they will devote their time to that.We are doing the Hook;Line and Sinker rodeo in Cocodrie w/ the Spice Girls float from Aphrodite so we don't have much time for anything else right now.Are you in Hercules? If so who's float?

LSU; I am all for a land get-together.NOLA would be good for me.:D But we could do one in a different cities each year.

On land, water, in the air, doesn't matter to most anybody I think. It's the get together. I guess we could start a poll and see. No use putting it off any longer. I like your suggestion of a different place every year.

I'm not sure how to alert the LA folks other than the boards. I notice that you talk about the Hook, Line and Sinker, Cocodrie, Hercules, etc. I'd bet that a lot of folks don't know where to look for things outside of their local happenings.

NO might be the place to start things rolling. Just needs organizing and starting!

Hey DASA and selucrey,

Just got an email from my TA. We're going to tour the ship on August 15th. Have mixed emotions. August 15th is media and fan day at LSU. Tour starts at 10:45 on Conquest. Limited number but great for some of our 'fence riders' on cruising.

But thanks for the info DASA. I would never have known that these tours were available if you hadn't said it.

L S U ;That's great about the tour.Wish I had been able to do that before I did the Conquest last year.I never did find everything onboard!

That's true about others not knowing about a get-together. If we decide when;where, etc. We could post the info on the other boards also.

Hey, count us in the group. We would love to meet ya'll and swap stories of our cruises. Our first cruise (Holiday) was Thanksgiving 2002. While in port in Playa del Carmen the ship got stuck in the sand, and we had to fly home (on Thanksgiving Day). Our second cruise (Conquest) was Mardi Gras week 2004. Due to the accident at the mouth of the river we had a bad beginning to our cruise and we had to skip Jamaica and Grand Cayman. Despite all of that we're booked on the Conquest again for Thanksgiving.

By the way, I am a Nawlins' "Yat" now living in Slidell.
