barbados Posted April 20, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2006 Hi, Sunnie! Yes. I’m back in the states. It was one crazy winter, let me tell you. Got to spend just three nights and six ½-days on the island. Not even time to hit a beach! I got to see more of the U.K. than the Caribbean this trip. Looking at retirement soon…can’t take another winter like this one. Hope all is well with you. Thanks for taking such good care of the people looking for help here. One of these days I’ll get to buy you a Mt. Gay, yes? My best regards, -b-

barbados Posted June 2, 2006 #5 Share Posted June 2, 2006 Good to hear from you again Mr. Barbados. We talked a couple of years ago(you went to EAA fly in in Oshkosh) You mention being in the UK. we are going on Celebrity Constellation and will be in Cork, Falmouth and London in the UK next April. Any suggestions? Thanks ahead of time. Yes, jakedoc, I remember you! Did you give Mr. Farve my best? LOL Well, in London it’s strictly business with us. The few extra hours of free time are at auctions and art galleries, so I’m not going to be of too much help there. Now, you know there are ten things a Corkian will always tell you to see. I haven’t done them all, but try and do a new one each time we’re there. Here’s the list as best as I can remember: Kiss the Blarney Stone Climb the Bell Tower of St. Ann’s Bargain on the old Coal Quay See old city Gadl (Old Jail) Shop in the English Market See the Beamish & Murphy Breweries Take the train to Cobh Sorry, can’t remember the other three. :( Now, Falmouth….. Nice, working class town and worth seeing, but we take the ferry to St. Mawes and see the Maritime Museum & Pendennis Castle. Then hit the Trebah Gardens and/or Glendurgan Gardens. Another must-see while in the area is Helford Creek, perhaps one of the most beautiful places in the UK. Hungry yet? A wonderful/proper pub lunch at Pandora Inn at Restronguet, Mylor Bridge. A lovely thatched Inn on the creekside. If I think of more, I’ll post for you. You’ll love your trip! :)

barbados Posted June 2, 2006 #7 Share Posted June 2, 2006 You're quite welcome! Here are some pix for you around Falmouth....Not in Falmouth: Here's the Pandora Inn for lunch And here's what awaits you at Helford Creek: Helford is like walking into a full-scale David Winter Cottages set. It is pure storybook through-and-through. Unforgetable, indeed. Best! -b-
barbados Posted June 2, 2006 #8 Share Posted June 2, 2006 This is the St. Mylor Church (in St. Mylor) on the way from Falmouth to Helford. This is just a wonderful area of the world. Cannot find anything like it anywhere else. Best! -b-
barbados Posted June 2, 2006 #9 Share Posted June 2, 2006 Sorry to bother you again, my friends from the land of lakes, but I wanted you to see a map of the Falmouth area. The areas of interest are not too distant, as you can see. You probably won't have the time, but this is a wonderful area to explore. ENJOY! ;)
