Thanks for sharing Peter...love these webcam shots and how much fun that you have it looking both ways!! And what a sight it sounds like tomorrow will be in Southampton with the 2 Queens and the Saga Sisters at the same time...or so I am told. Is there a Southampton webcam that might show some of this? Cheers, Penny

Penny,

Oh yes, though the QEII terminal is in the distance:

There's another one of the city centre which may show some of the ships

And there's a great source of ship/harbour webcams here:

Enjoy!

Peter...once again you are a great source of information. Thanks for these links....can't get the one that looks toward the QEII terminal to open but that may just be my MAC being stubborn. I'll be lurking around them tomorrow for sure thanks to your help. I especially enjoyed the sealinks site. I haadn't found that one so I "visited" a few spots just for the fun of it! Cheers, Penny

Penny,

Here's another one - on this you can track (with a delay of ~ an hour) ships progress (free registration required) and here are the sealanes near the Channel Islands:

On this I can see the QE2, QM2, Saga Rose & Saga Ruby.......

And for tomorrow, it should be possible to see where the different ships are docked in Southampton:

Peter...I see them all..wow..what fun. Such an interesting site. I can see I'll have a busy day of it tomorrow. Would rather be there in person but....

There should be some pictures posted after tomorrow on another site I visit. A couple of regulars there are going there to take pictures. Don't know if it's considered proper to mention it (the other site) but if they post photos I'll put a link on here if I can.

thanks again for all...Penny

@Peter,

thank you for the link of the harbour cam in St. Peter Port. At the moment (9am) a harbour crane is loading something in front of the bridge cam. Have you been out during the day and if so can you tell me whats going on in the harbour all day long? Also who has chartered the ship for the two days? Maybe QUEEN ELISABETH is celebrating her birthday?

During our stay in St. Peter Port from Aug. 12-15th we will be in the Hotel Le Chene. Do you know it, and where is it best to rent bikes to ride around the Island of Guernsey? Next Question, we need a ferry on the 12th from Jersey to Guernsey ist it better to fly or to go by boat, any recommodations?

Thank you for your reply in advance

PS: Where to meet you for a pint of Guinnes in August?

Best regards from Austria to Guernsey(guy) from

Hi Robert,

The QM2 is in Southampton now - and I very much doubt HM QEII chartered her for her birthday!

Normally I would suggest taking a ferry from Jersey to Guernsey, as its a lovely way to arrive in St Peter Port:

But as your hotel

is out in the country near the airport it might be easier to fly:

I've never hired a bike here, so can't really make any recommendations!

I'm not sure if we'll be able to meet up as I have visitors in August, but lets check nearer the time.
